i recently tryed to send a zipped up skin and skope and google mail refused due to a virus, yet i ran 4 separate scans on my system and the zip itself and all came up clean. so i wonder if google is going the way hotmail went when trying to send FF stuff anyone else had this problem
Tomato is the only other person that I know of that has had this problem. I've never had an issue with sending or receiving files on gmail even after the Aim/Gmail upgrade.

Since I've been referenced anyway...
From what I can tell, this isn't a new thing, nor is it a consistent thing... some days I'm able to open zips without issue, others I'm not. I looked at the help area, but despite several complaints about the zip thing, Google seems to be blowing off the problem. Because we all know a stupid virus scan knows better then human beings 100% of the time.
Try it again in a few days. If it still doesn't work, try sending the files through some other free service like yahoo or graffiti.net.
I only send and receive files through Yahoo, myself. If someone sends e-mail with an attachment to my other e-mail accounts, I forward it to my Yahoo account.
I hope I dont run into this, I just sent a friend a zip full of screen captures of a movie for our website...
I've also had this problem with Gmail the other day. It's extremely annoying and makes no sense at all.
