This is sort of an oxymoron, but I think everyone's got some favorite "bad" movies. Movies like the "so bad it's good" category or movies where you know with every fiber of your brain they're terrible but for some reason you like them. What are yours? I've got quite a few:
-Super Mario Bros.: This is probably my all time favorite bad movie. I remember REALLY wanting to see this movie when I was a child, and I couldn't for the life of me get anyone to take me to go see it. Eventually my mom caved and took me as an "early birthday treat". It's terrible, but it will always have that place of nostalgia. My current opinion is that while I know it's definitely a bad movie, I don't think it's as bad as most of the public said it was. Sure, it's hardly faithful to the videogame at all, but then again, would a movie that was really be any better?
-Street Fighter: Pretty much for the same reasons as above. I was a kid, and loved the SF games, and was really excited for the movie. It's bad, but again, I loved it as a kid.
-Godzilla Vs. Megalon: Again, as a kid, I was a big Godzilla fan. I loved a bunch of them (except Godzilla's Revenge, which is awful in every which way) but Godzilla Vs. Megalon remains as one of the most comical Godzilla movies to date. This is one me and my friends rented one night when we had "bad movie night" and we laughed our asses off. As a kid I found it entertaining, but as an adult I find it hilarious.
-Snakes on a Plane: You've heard the buzz. This one's under the "so bad it's good" category. I was quite surprised at how entertaining this movie was.
-Wild Wild West: I don't really have an excuse for this one. This is actually one of the few I'm ashamed to admit to liking, lol. In no way should I like this movie, but for some reason I've always found it entertaining. I think I just like the idea of a western with steam punk fantasy, I don't know. There's a ton of plot holes and really bad dialog, particularly from Will Smith, and Selma Hyek's characher has no point whatsoever in the story, but hey, she looks DAMN GOOD in it, and I like the gadgets. So sue me.
Now don't be afraid to admit it. What's your favorite bad movies?

count me in on the too afraid to admit it.
The problem with a question like this is that I don't really consider any of the movies I like to be bad (even though others may point out how painfully obvious it is to them how horrible the films in question are).
I guess Final Fantasy: Spirits Within would qualify as a "bad movie" that I like (and even then, I only like it for its technical merits in animation... it was years ahead of its time with regards to CG, and for my money, not even more recent CG film efforts such as Beowulf have surpassed its accomplishments in feature-length computer animation).
Other films that are universally-panned but I actually enjoy watching to some degree:
- Orgazmo
- most of the Cheech and Chong movies
- Daredevil (both the theatrical cut and the drastically different cut that made it onto DVD)
- The first Punisher movie (the one with Dolph Lundgren, which I think is superior to the more recent Punisher movie in every way)
I liked "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead" starring Christina Applegate. I found it very entertaining. I remember watching it on VHS and thinking...I would have gone to see that in the theater. I liked it more than Home Alone.

Cementary Man an italian/british zombie movie that starts out great and makes less and less sense as it goes along. Way too self indulgent but in the end an entertaining watch.
Six String Samurai by no stretch of the imagination is this a good movie, but in the end it's wonderfully campy and fun.
woah! i wouldn't consider Six String Samurai or Don't tell mom the babysitters dead at all! i loved those movies.

I cast my vote on that to Wild Zero. It's a movie that involves rock and roll, aliens, zombies and a massive bodycount. It is patently aware of how over the top it really is. There's a scene where the lead rocker hurls electrified guitar picks like shuriken into a zombie horde.The there's one where he pulls a katana from the neck of his guitar and uses it to cut the alien mothership in half. Really, under any other circumstances this would be bad. But all the elements together make it pure awesome. There's even a drinking game for the movie, in the dvd special features, that if you follow everything, you'll be drunker than Doctor Man-bot in the first ten minutes.

If you can ever get a hold of it outside Australia, check out "Hercules Returns".
Small time investor buys run-down theatre, with the gimmick of opening with the last movie shown when the cinema shut down with decades ago. Megacinema conglomerate bad guy has the distributors ship them the Italian version. Investor, camera operator and PR girl redub the movie as it's playing. Hilarity and potty humour ensue, with a bunch of musclemen (Hercules, Samson, Ursus and Machismo)
I come in Peace ranks up there pretty good.
Masters of the Universe- That cop cocked his shotgun 15 times before he ever fired it. Lol
Gotta say, Godzilla vs Megalon was awesome. Gigan was a true terror in there. He's my favorite, btw. Out of the old series, this was my favorite.
And everytime I bring Six String Samurai to my club to watch on the screen, I always have people asking about it.

Street Fighter is pretty bad, but has a few things going for it:
1. The speech Van Damme makes before heading to kick the snot out of Bison (the one that ends with "who wants to go home, and who wants to go with me?!"
2. Van Damme actually does Guile's Flash Kick during one of the fights.
3. Raul Julia was over the top chewing the scenery as Bison....and it worked perfectly!
4. The outfit Ming Na was wearing as Chun Li after she was captured.
I'm a big fan of most Godzilla movies, but there are a few even I can't stand (Godzilla's Revenge and Son of Godzilla), and I still haven't seen the last two movies yet.
When I was nine or something, I totally cried at the end of Son of Godzilla. When Son(gadzuki?) had fallen and pop's was still walking ahead of him, realized his mentally challenged son couldn't keep up with him and came back to hold him while the snow started. I was balling. But umm, yeah, the rest of that movie blew.

Well, rumors persist, that Big Trouble in Little China was a supposed sequel already to another popular cult film by W.D. Richter... Buckaroo Banzai.
I wish I could remember where I saw that, but can't quite find where. I don't think thats legit though since its pretty documented elsewhere quite a bit that Big Trouble was a Western script rewritten to a modern setting by W.D. I can certainly see it in a round about way though. Lo Chan could certainly be Hanoi Xan. I easily see the World Crime League having dealings slavery. How other characters would fit in, I don't know... but I can imagine the Hong Kong Cavaliers being part of the motley bunch.
Jack Burton though... total opposite of Dr. Banzai though.

EDIT: I also liked "Hercules in New York" that flick motivated me to go into weight training...and i did it for 10 years or more...just so I could move my man breasts up and down like Arnold.

DUDE I sweasr i was the only person to have ever seen Wild Zero!! and I even hang out with a lot of the korean punks and we've seen Guitar wolf play in concert before, but they never heard of it.
it was a few year back i watched it though. i really got into guitar wolf, and was amazed when i saw wild zero at my local indie video store.
i've been planning to skope guitar wolf for a long time now.. along with MF Doom. two of my favourite hero/villain musicians. The Locust would be fun to skin too.

:thumbup: That is one of my absolute favs. Doubtless there are others that are more archetypal of the genre, but to me this embodies perfectly the "action movie that pokes fun of its heroes and their seriousness" movie. "Tough guy" Jack Burton running around trying to fight with the vertical lipstick kiss print on his face is just classic.
And, what I think is the most re-usable line from the movie, coming right after Lo Pan threatens Wang, shows Jack Burton displaying both courage in the face of danger and epic insensitivity.

As corny as Son of Godzilla is, the ending is actually quite touching in it's own strange way. The music that plays while Godzilla is holding his son as the snow comes down is surprisingly emotional in an otherwise really campy movie. The movie had some rather funny moments like Megalon had, like Godzilla teaching his son how to breathe fire, and the ridiculous dialog from the humans. But Megalon is a classic G film. Nothing will ever top that scene where Godzilla slides into Megalon on his tail and kicks him in the gut. I bet more people are familiar with this film from Mystery Science Theater 3000 though. And Jet Jaguar...pure hilarity, especially that song at the end! XD!
I used to be a big G fan, but the last movie I saw when I was an actual fan was Godzilla vs The Smog Monster (Hedorah) and thought it blew. I'm more of a nostalgia fan now, but the most recent movie I saw was Godzilla Vs. King Ghidorah, in which Ghidorah was created by three little monkey-bat type creatures, and there was a really ridiculous looking cyborg helping the humans. I laughed so hard I woke up my friends parents, lol.
Marvell, definitely check out Godzilla vs. Destroyer (aka Godzilla vs. Destoroyah) and Godzilla 2000 if you have a chance. They're both pretty good, and vs. Destroyer ties in to the first Godzilla movie.
The fact that there's never been a sequel to Big Trouble In Little China is a freakin' CRIME!!!

Okay, this is one of the best movies out there. Well, maybe that's over stating, but I don't think it can be called a bad movie, unless you take any line spoken by the daughter into consideration.
Actually, I like a lot of the movies listed here. Joe Vs. The Volcano? Probably one of my favourite movies as a kid (next to Beyond Thunderdome & Big Trouble).
How about the first Evil Dead? That's actually a fairly awful movie, when you think about it. Or the De Niro Frankenstein? Oh! How about Maniac Cop? Or Versus? Or Freaks? Actually, I don't think I should even reply to this topic. If we mean just bad on a technical level (be it script, acting, shots), then I love bad movies way too much.

El Condor, you almost made me spit my soda out with Gymkata. I forgot all about that. Incredible how parrallel bars were very convientiantly placed through out the landscape. But, this brought about my favorite action movie and star. Ready for it?
American Ninja 3. Starring Michael Dudikoff. This movie had everything from Brightly colored ninjas, evil english men, terrorrist from saudi arabia and ....... a colony of road warriors.
1. After climbing up the side of a dam in africa wearing his mask, he enters the damn and takes it off. His hair is suprisingly well combed, despite it being in a mask and him in the middle of africa.
2. After beating a yellow clad ninja and stealing his outfit to desguise himself, he casualy walks out in front of where a hundred or so ninjas and terrorrist are getting ready to bbq the 2nd american ninja and drops a smoke bomb. All while not wearing a mask like any of the other ninjas around him are.
3. Jumping into a hole wearing jeans and a tee shirt, he bounces out of hole wearing his ninja outfit instantly.
4. Did i mention the road warrior colony?
Also, the Sword and the Sorcerror. Anybody remember this? Our hero, Matt Houston has a tri sword that shoots 2 of the blades off with enough force that a person can be impaled to a door. And if that wasn't enough of metal for him to weild, there's a hidden blade in the hilt of the sword in case it gets too personal for conventional swordplay.
Funny that many of these movies were played on TV, seemingly quarterly, back in the late 80's and early 90's.
I gotta add a few more:
-DareDevil; both the theatrical and directors cuts
-both Fantastic Four movies
-Punisher (with Thomas Jane)
although I have to admit, I never really thought DD was a "bad" movie. Sure, it's one of the weaker Marvel movies, but it has some surprisingly great moments in it, mostly dealing with DD's inner conflict. Everything with Kingpin and Bullseye were super campy though.
I'm going to throw one movie into the mix that has NO redeeming features whatsoever...

Big Trouble in Little China is fantastic ... I don't actually consider it to be a "bad" movie though. That movie has its own little thing going on.
When I think "bad", I think cheesy, or low-budget. Film's that fit into this category, but I still love anyway, include Blackbelt Jones, Evil Dead 3, Slither, Kung Pow, Cabin Fever, Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!

I think the reason I liked it was mostly because how old I was when I saw it (I was 10). The music was incredibly lame but catchy 80s pop. The plot was corny. The Last Dragon isn't a terrible move....it was shown every once in while on prime time/late night TV for years (so was Big Trouble in Little China). Bruce Leroy is one of my favorite characters....his quest to find the fortune cookie machine was awesome!

Just because it was shown on prime time/late night TV for years doesn't mean that it is not a terrible movie. The thing with that movie though is that it knew what it was which doesn't make it as bad as something like "Gymkata".

Exactly. The FX Channel plays Catwoman and Tomb Raider Cradle of Life quite frequently. Both of those are abysmal. Although both are also quite comical in an unintentional way (Jolie punching a shark, and Berry getting high on catnip and playing basketball...lol)
