Title: Sample voicepacks in game?
Post by: 0Ptical on December 15, 2007, 05:37:00 PM
I dont know if you can do this... but if so please tell me where because I dont see it.
I was playing around with character customization and i noticed you cannot do 2 things. One of which was listen to the soundpacks of characters (minuteman, thug, etc.) to see which you you like.. or at least didnt see where that could be done?

I don't think the system requirements are much different than  :ff: , plus I've often gotten games to work perfectly fine when they weren't supposed to.

a bit OT but: what is your computer specs?

2.9 gig Celeron D with 512 mgs ram.  I originally ran it with a VERY old 32 meg built in graphics card.  I recently replaced it, but haven't tried running the game since.

OT:
I have celeron M 1.4 ghz, ATI9000 mobility, and 600 RAM free (100ish used by system). I think your Celeron D is a lot better than my M so... that could be the world of difference. If you can, run it again on your D and see how the lag goes... PM me your results if when you have time... it be interesting to know if the system req. for the sequel is kind of "inflated" and maybe I could run it on my rather outdated computer.

but based on this site:
http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest

i can only fun FF well and not FF-T3R.

infact, that site no longer have many games i could run anymore.

B-OT:
anyway, sure is nice to know that the sequel can test voices..
is there anyway the editor or something can read voice/sound files? i play them myself but the sounds ar not in wav or mp3 format... well not that i see in the data stuff...

The sounds ARE in mp3 format.

They are in those .ff archives, which are really ordinary zips.  Change the extension from .ff to .zip (you'll have to add the ability to see the extensions in folder options if you haven't already) and you can open them and look at the files inside.

oh.. i didnt know that.. i thought that was just a .ff file and i had no clue thats a compressed format...
then changing it to .zip and extracting it should fix my problem.

Assuming you're under XP and not Vista, your system can do FFvsTTR without problem; it wont be hyper snappy, but it should be more than enough. This is well above minimum system specs and mostly above recommended specs.  BTW, I ran the game for years on lesser hardware (Athlon 1Ghz, 256 MB RAM GeForce 6200 32MB).

I don't know what this system lab site is, but they don't seem too good. :P

You probably won't even need to rename the file. Just use your ZIP archive manager's open dialog to select the file, or associate .ff to open always in your program.

Note that some ZIP archive managers don't seem to be able to recognize .ff files as valid.zip archives (different subformat? file too large?); WinZip and the free IZarc are two which work fine.
