Title: How do you incorporate emotes?
Post by: AncientSpirit on December 06, 2007, 05:44:17 AM
I thought that if I typed in /e (name of animated emote) that it would work -- especially since it does, sometimes.

For example, if I type in /e bow, my character bows.

However, if I type in /e fancy bow, my character THINKS "fancy bow".

I don't use emotes all that often, but my new DP/WP hero - Blade of Zorro -- discovered the Fancy Bow in the pull down section of the chat box under OTHER, and it fits him to a T.

Is there any way to incorporate one of these others -- and specifically Fancy Bow -- into his keybind routines or are "Other remotes" inaccessablie this way?

I actually used that one the other day.

Emotes work 2 different ways, first is the /e <emote name> that you mentioned.

The second is ;<emote name>.  The fancy bow emote is ;fancybow.  I'm not sure if all emotes work by removing the spaces, but I do know that one does.

The name of the emotes in slash format isn't always the same as in the menu. For example, the Warm Up emote is done with /e kata.

There's a full list of emote slash commands here:

As a simple rule to remember, there are no spaces in any emote names.  You needed to type /e fancybow

Right after I first started playing I saw a person in Atlas do the vomit emote. He told me how to do it and it wasn't an /e or ; command it was some long string. Anyone know how to use the NPC emotes using this method?

That's one of my favorites. New players never know what hit them. ;)

I believe this was a bug around the time you started; peacebringers in dwarf form would revert to human form visually, but would still be in dwarf form. They could do some bizarre stuff, such as use a shotgun and vomit.

Thanks, guys.  Eliminating the space between Fancy and Bow made all the difference, just like you said.

It is such a hoot for me to see my new DB/WP toon, Blade of Zorro, make this gesture as he introduces himself to the bosses before he takes them down.    :D
