Title: mechs, warlocks/wizards, or asian-themed characters?
Post by: 0Ptical on December 03, 2007, 10:50:25 PM
I did a search for wizards and asian themes around the forums only to mainly find references to Valandar for wizards and nothing else. I was wondering also was there anything really mech part based.. not cyborgs or robots, but ... think iron man but gundam style? (man sized gundam but more like exo-suits of armor than mobile suit unit or robot... not really gundams or mechwarriors).

some links left and right to some places would help.

Valandar is your go-to guy when it comes to mech and other robot-related meshes. Make certain to look under "More Meshes" for some wizards/warriors/fantasy stuff, too.

check out Zuludelta's sections.  he's done quite a few,  and so have a number of the other great skinners on that site.

and last but not least, where is some places to get "rpg-style"/D&D style wizards/magic users? I require either a staff or dagger/short word... and I prefer if it was created by the user than based on say, Gandolf, etc. Valar's Eldar warlock isnt excactly what im looking for. Meanwhile, his other fantasy stuff consist of monsters and a valkyrie, though good, doesnt fit the "job description".

any suggestions?

Not all of these are specifically what you asked for, but may be along the same lines, and you might find usable, anyway.

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/bobby69meshes2/ (http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/bobby69meshes2/):  has a witch mesh (very Wicked Witch of the West, minus the broom)

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/ffhexedmeshes_sceptre/ (http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/ffhexedmeshes_sceptre/):  has the nimrod mesh, could pass for a mech

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Freedomforcemesh4/ (http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Freedomforcemesh4/):  has female_samurai mesh (Katana character from DC's The Outsiders, original costume)

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Freedomforcemesh7/ (http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Freedomforcemesh7/):  has samurai mesh (katana, no armor)

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Grenadiermeshes4/ (http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Grenadiermeshes4/):  has Silver_Samurai mesh

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Grenadiermeshes6/ (http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Grenadiermeshes6/):  has Grim_Hogun mesh (from Thor....always looked somewhat asian/mongol to me)

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Interceptormeshes2/ (http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Interceptormeshes2/):  has female_amazon_katana mesh (no armor, really)

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/jikmeshes/ (http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/jikmeshes/):  has heroine_hairbuns mesh (Chun-Li from Street Fighter); also has the Walker mesh (ED-209 from Robocop, comes bundled with FFX), may be usable as a mech

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Jikmeshes2/ (http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Jikmeshes2/):  has 40k space marine and assault marine meshes; also has the tdaninja mesh (ninja with ninja-to), there are at least three other ninja skins for this mesh floating around somewhere.....there's also a ninja skin around somewhere for the Eve mesh

http://www.newpowerinc.com/meshworks/keyframe_central.htm (http://www.newpowerinc.com/meshworks/keyframe_central.htm):  has a couple different martial artist keyframes, for use with a copy of male_basic.  Also, don't forget to look under Val's More Meshes, for a male_kung_fu mesh

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Jikmeshes3/ (http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Jikmeshes3/):  has a bunch of x-com meshes, but no pics (you'd have to be familiar with that game.  as I'm not, I can't suggest anything specifically for mechs)

http://games.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/REDHEXES/ (http://games.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/REDHEXES/):  has various hexes of armored meshes (Onslaught, Lex Luthor's battle armor, and Crimson Dynamo), in many configurations.  May be useful for some mechs

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Valandarmeshes2/ (http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Valandarmeshes2/):  has male_sorcerer mesh (no pics; looks like standard robes, pointy hat, staff, if I'm remembering the right mesh)

http://www.tommyboymeshes.freedomforceforever.com/ (http://www.tommyboymeshes.freedomforceforever.com/):  has a *ton* of meshes, something may work for what you're looking for

Yes sir, but even then you aren't guaranteed a screenshot. You'll more then likely have to download each one and check them out in the character tool (or in game) and see if they're what you're looking for.

Quotedo i need to "join the group"

Yep. I sometimes think that our little community here single handedly keeps yahoo groups in business...

As funny as that statement is, it's probably true.

As long as you are joining Yahoo roups, you might check out Ink's groups. He has some dirrerent drones that might be useful. In addition, the V&V Freedom Force group has a Meganaut that looks pretty good.

And the Pulp Fiction mod has some Asian themed villains-like a Fu Manchu and Dragon Lady look alike, as well as some misclleaneous phansigar and daicoat types, possibly a hassassin and a thugee or two.

I do no know of any "yahoo FF groups"...

On the NPI front page, if you click on the link under Links To Freedom, you'll find a vast amount of links there, with a very large collection of yahoo group links.  Browsing can't hurt, as you might find something you didn't know you were looking for.

I found Ink and the page you were refering to and the Pulp Mod, but could you describe who is "V&V Freedom Force group" more? Nothing of their group homepage in the searches for them in the page or google.

I will scan the remainder of that link page you showed me. I sould be able to conclude my search from those.

I'm guessing he's referring to the old standard RPG Villains & Vigilantes.  I have a link to one of the yahoo groups, but it's only got hero files.

does this "old V&V" have a wiki or description database or something to explain more what it was about?
I dont know anything about "villians and vigilanties" RPG... if the link has anything that fits my request, its worth a shot. If it has more info on V&V, its still worth a read.
Thanks so much you guys! I enjoy modding games but it takes so long for me and so much headaches... and its a bit unorganized right now since i have exams comming up. These are just prep moves for now.. I would have scanned and browsed better if i had that time... but im getting impatient and want to make some progress and asking around for stuff or confirming their existance is faster than browsing all the files in a database and finding out myself. Sorry for the bother.

Is what is displayed in the address window. They have skins and a mesh or two nowadays.

Also, have you checked out Lordemshidy? He has some transformer-type stuff. They are a little hard to find; his site menu seems to be a bit whonky.
