My apologies if this has been posted before, but I just came across it and thought it was pretty cool.
http://goldenagecomics.co.uk/
Apparently this site has been collecting and hosting downloads of Golden Age comics that are now out of copyright.
It looks like anyone can upload to help the project out, but they appear to be quite diligent in making sure that issues or publishers are copyright free before actually posting as a download.
It's funny- just a couple of days ago, I was looking (unsuccessfullu) for a site like this...
Thanks for posting this.
I checked the site out and theres not that many comic covers to what you can download but there is alot of comic there that you can download.
Great find GP! Really cool stuff, even some of the original Captain Marvel comics!
But for some reason I can't download anything on that site :(
QuoteBut for some reason I can't download anything on that site sad
You mean the download links don't work, or you can't find them (the links are pretty hidden)?
No its when I try to download something, it will always says: :(
Error: Sorry but you are not allowed to download this file as you have exceeded the number of files you are allowed to download during this period. Please check your user control panel for more information on the limits currently available to you.. If you believe this to be in error, please quote the above error and report this to the admin
Thats weird. I'm getting that too.
I wasn't last night.
I know they put download limits to save bandwidth...
Did you create an account?
It could be that all non registered people are tied to a single "anonymous" user account and as a result the bandwidth has been exceeded.
*EDIT* I just created an account and it looks like you are allowed 1GB or 100 files per 24 hour period.
Also even though I registered it took a few tries of closing the browser and reopening to clear cookies and cache before it recognized me, but it finally did and the downloads appear to work ok now.
I will try that, thanks
Odd...I'm getting the same error. Perhaps their bandwidth has been exceeded with all the people flocking to such a bitchin' site!! I'll check back later!
Thanks for sharing that GP!
