I got accepted to the college that I've been wanting to go to for awhile... Indiana State University. I'll be majoring in Music Business Administration... so this is sorta a big moment in my life, and I'm just extremely happy that I'm accepted...

Employment tip: Just tell people you have an MBA and hope they don't ask what it stands for. ;)

I'll be teaching what is typically a predominantly freshman "Introduction to Poetry" class in Fall 2008, so if you start saving and planning now you can attend my class in Boston regularly, earn transfer credits in the humanities you might need to fulfill requirements at ISU, and I will have the opportunity to convince you that a lifetime of making ends meet in the music industry pales in comparison to the aesthetic pleasures of being a virtually penniless English major (and those rewards extend far beyond graduation, lad...far, far, excruciatingly far beyond...).

Or you can do much the same thing to take my US History 1 course in Albany, NY for less money, thus learning how to be a poor history major at reduced cost.

I don't know about that English major thing, though. Do what I did: Get a job working at a drug information company as an editor, and accidently fall into programming. I'm beyond pennies now; I've made it all the way to nickels! (almost) :)
So I'm a guy with two English degrees who makes a living writing SGML/XML DTDs and Schemas and doing XSLT and OmniMark programming. Go figure.

So basically what MBA is (hehe, I like how that sounds) is I'll be handling a lot of stuff about music... obviously. But what I want from out of it, is to be a record producer, and work with the bands/artists to make an album. I'd also like to do maybe some middle management, sort out some more stuff for the band, and maybe be their manager... So basically, it's like a business degree, except in the music industry. And I'm not entirely sure about the whole financial over creative thing, but I'll have to look into that...
but thanks again everybody, I'm really excited about this. Fall 2008 I'll be a college boy! w00t!
