Okay to everyone helping me out you can post whatever you are busy with or want to discuss in here.
I have sent links via PM. This is the beta playtest to get feedback and give everyone a good idea what this mod is all about. There is no eye candy as yet so still many skins, artwork, loadingscreens, scopes, fx, head nifs etc must still be added. The scripting and story is close to final though & will be improved after feedback.
It is a Rar file with a shortcut inside. oh yeah like the current menu screen very much just a place holder until the real artists can create something.
I added a patch that adds more music sent via pms
install over/after the original.
Here is some ideas I need input on:
1. I am considiring adding a biker goon to drive around town and attack you/the girl. I am sure this will be cool but I am afraid the mission is rather tough already so don't want to make it too hard.
2. I don't have a background track for the intro yet, any ideas? though a heartbeat sound is supposed to play on the red flashing portion I must still figure out why it does not want to play.
3. Would you guys like it if Avian where able to ride his harley in mission2 (something like the tank in :ffvstr:) I am unsure if I want to spend the time on scripting this cause it will influence all the events.
Well, I haven't really played it yet, but I ran into some problems which prevented me from doing much.

Is the install path different or what differences are there?

It's a HUGE problem for a lot of people, and will like keep the mission from running at all for a good number of folks. I'd personally recommend not using it.
Bummer.
Well if that is the case what I will do is to make the standard without it and add an optional patch to enable it for those that can enjoy it.

Thanks Volsung and she is most definitely a bad girl. Designing her was an "enormous" undertaking! :P :lol: I'll pm C4 and copy you so that were on the same page. I'm finishing up Brace and starting Serengeti and also reworking Rage and Ruin. I'll work on these up till Christmas then not until January. After which I'll start on the load screens and title screen image.
So I won't get necessarily all the instructions and content to work effectively during my own holidays? (partially exiled from internet). :P
Anyway, like always, I clearly overestimate the amount of work I'll be capable to enchain during those days of liberty. :rolleyes:

Sure. Though if it gives you any issues, use what is easiest. Not sure about the boots & jacket though. But for the hair maybe psylocke by ink or the detourne_me scope. Her animations will be energy projection based. Powerful force blasts.

Crime lord 1 - An 40 year old black male he is the head of the deadly talon crime syndicate. Has a custom talon / claw on his right hand.
Crime lord 2 - Two versions first is just a white male in his mid fifties, overweight/tummy
beard, in a suit.
Second version is after his accident his whole skin is burned/scarred that he can no longer feel, smell or taste. but his sight & hearing has reached superhuman levels. He is the leader of the howling wolf crime syndicate.
Oh yes there is two syndicates Howling wolf & Deadly talon, their members wear a tattoo that show they belong to this syndicate. I think these will do:

During my holidays i'm going to focus on Ruin,Rage and Feedback.

Ok...so I'm gonna be posting a little later on a slight redesign for Rage. After looking at my previous drawing I felt that I could do a little better...so that's what this redesign will do. I'll probably do slight tweaks to the other character designs I have finished but not so much that they're comletely different. Sorry if this throws a spanner in the works....but I really want to do it right for the mod so that'll be as cool as possible.
The laptop is quite slow and awry, I hope that won't be that incapacitating.

Ruin and Feedback...I'm gonna leave alone. I'm just gonna redraw them with a few minor tweaks...the costumes will remain the same since C4 is happy with 'em so you both can go for it. I know that C4 is doing bio pages for the characters so I'm just gonna redraw them for that purpose. Rage on the other hand was just a completely different animal. I'm not in New York right now...I left work and went directly to my aunt's home in Delaware so...unfortunately I can't show you the newer versio of rage till Wednesday. Sorry Volsung! :( If I get back home tomorrow night then I'll previw him for ya.
Don't apologize, it's obvious that i won't be able to do the 3 characters during those holidays, I just hope to achieve at least one. So i just want full information for Ruin or Feedback! The colors, and even a back view if there's specific details hidden. The sketches don't need to be polished! :)
Thor Reborn I realise that I don't got FFVTTR installed there. I just got Nifskope (+ 3dsmax , Photoshop and my trusty intuos 3 of course) and i'm not sure Nifskope can display skins. And if I export the nif as an obj to 3ds Max, I remember the textures coordinates are lost in the process.
Is it possible that you send me FFVTTR character tool aswell? I wonder if it can work without the game installed... :(

Nifskope can show skins, but you'd probably be better off using Ctool. Yes, ctool 1 and 2 can be used without installing the game if you have the correct files saved somewhere. I don't remember all the files off-hand, but I believe I have the bare modtools (about 10mb) uploaded somewhere.
One thing I was thinking about on the new Rage, As much as I like the bare chest we have no place to add his Rage letters in purple now.(sort of his logo) But then I would not want to lose the muscled mean look so maby two skins where one just has the shirt and one not, then keep the pic like it is for the bio? What do you think?

I was actually doing this pretty serious back tatt that was featuring his name...but I was more thinking a blood red rather than purple. Purple strikes me as a little whimppy of a color for this murderous slashing and stabbing machine. :P ;) Also I'm doing even more scars, tattoos and even bullet wounds that would be a shame to cover with a shirt. But its up to you my man.

Hopefully I got an extra day of vacation in my stronghold before getting back to the office.
I should spend it efficiently without using the paternal moribund computer.
Ruin will have some custom animation, FXs, and face animation. Those features legitimate my caprice of not using/waiting for skopes :)

a quick progress report from the scripting side, I am back from my vacation.
I have finished missions 3 + 4, they are playable. I only need to finish one or two cutscenes so I should be able to upload them by the weekend.
Now that we are in January there is a few things:
First I would like to have the first episode ready for release around 20 - 31 January. This is not a deadline like at work though we do need a guideline to where we are heading.
I am starting work on the website and I am going to do a proper credits page. Where all the people that contributed on my request will get a special portion including what you want. So this can maybe be an avatar pic with a link to your website / portfolio other FF stuff etc. Let me know what you guys want in there.

Ok so i cuaght up on all the PMs and emails C4 has sent me and Cas, your stuff looks great. Can someone point me in the right direction? Where should I start? There has been a lot of shifting of responsibility around, so can someone let me know what I can do to help? :)
In order of appearance:
1. Avian, Angel, civilians & thugs
2. Silhouette, factory workers
3. Vista, crime syndicates
4. Serengeti
5. Double S, Crime lord 2 (Deadly Talon)
6. Brace, Crime lord 1 (Howling Wolf)
7. all the villains & second skin of crime lord 1 (burned)
So Carr for the first episode from you we need skins for Avian, Silhouette (two forms) & the Angel. We will see how things progress but maybe Vista as well. And your assistance to Casanova on the menu screen, a loading screen for Avian & Silhouette loading screen.
Then on the art Casanova and me just quickly discussed it and decided to get into it in January so here is my ideas:
Front (menu) screen: I was thinking a team shot with them painted as graffiti on an urban wall.

Avian Loading screen: For those of you that played the first two missions will know the opening scene where Avian heals a man who was shot and is shot as well. The screen is from that scene. So we have Avian with his knees on the ground his face tilted downwards and his hands to his sides. Three bullet holes in his chest. A lot of black smoke coming from his hands and eyes. small amounts of smoke coming from the bullet wounds. Maybe some cool effect with smoke leaving the screen.
Silhouette Loading screen: Silhouette having gone to smoke form with her lower body wrapped around a thug (in smoke) she had reformed her torso and head (flesh form), but her hair and arms are still in smoke form and she is sending that smoke into the thug's nose,mouth.
Vista Loading screen: Vista looking chuffed with his hands behind his back. in front of him there is two autopsy tools floating (ie. his spirit is holding them)

I have the playtest up to mission 4 done, will package and upload tommorow. A few notes:
The fx that silhouette currently has looks crap(I know), though my buddy Prev will thankfully assist here.
This is the full 4 missions in a new download so you don't need any of the previous files.
it includes my new custom civilian chat system - right now it still needs a lot of work and additions but it currently incudes
random lines said by civilians opposed to one. Civilian lines changing according to what you have done, in mission two once you start doing good deeds they will respect and like you where before they treated you like a dodgy stranger. and when certian cvilians pass each other they will stop and chat, their conversations also change according to events, as such in mission two they will discuss the new healer guy or in mission 4 the syndicate hit. and lastly my old patented can make phone calls on the phone booths thing, phone chick hot lines, listen to your voicemail etc.
The possibilities are endless; like a proper detective scene where talking to this guy opens new lines then talking to a few more opens an object to be inspected etc. Or when you screw up and many civs are ko'd or buildings destroyed they could give you a hard time lose respect. or when you do great things a civilian might become a vigilante sidekick and so on. I know it currently need a lot of improvement, bug fixing and so forth but this will give you the feel for it.
The plan is to pull the player into the world more. Thanks to Volsung we will have a wonderful array of modern civilians.
Then the pause settings need to be at sixteenth speed slow motion, not only is this how I play FF but in this mod there is slow motion portions in cutscenes and especially later on I have some cool slow motion cutscene portions planned.
Up to here you play with Avian hitman, Avian, Silhouette & Vista. Silhouette mission 3 has scripting where when she is in the dark she can not be seen.
Oh and m 3 + 4 does not have music yet, still looking for it (always appreciate suggestions though)
Lastly the dream wave effects will not be in the playtest.

I used the cheat 'peace()' to go through that zone.
This is one of those patience portions, It requires study of how civilians move, though I really do not want to discourage
people with something that is too difficult. There is a few options, one to reduce the amount of civilians, two a bomb threat on the phone is currently just a joke but can make civilians run away and clear a portion of road.

There is six good deeds and only three needs to be done to win, the money issue is one of the less obvious good deeds.

I think it is because the camera can't follow the bullet right from the start that it feels like it is freezing. For reasons not to be known by the player i can't track the bullet right of the bat but I guess I will either have to make another plan or drop this. Could you elaborate more on what was confusing so I can improve on it. ;)

Thanks for the feedback, I want to now concentrate on getting these 4 missions as playable & enjoyable as possible.
Though we need more playtesters maybe it is time to announce in mods.

The scopes for Avian & Silhouette are in the playtest or I can mail them seperately to you if you want. (Just remember I asked if you could take a look at the particle fx on the silhouette mesh)
For Vista we use the male_suit by Grenadier also in the playtest.
Angel you can take the male_trenchcoat (Gni) in the playtest and just remove the hair & staff.
Volsung will later on do a custom mesh for Serengeti & maybe Brace so at least then you will have something new to work on. ^_^

Each good deeds event happen too soon, when you're far from the concerned area.
But I guess that's only because of the easy mode that I can arrive too late to save the victim.

Those kids actually killed the third one! At least the way all those character vanish make us think that's a death!
Child brawl with death is excessive don't you think? ^^ By the way, our new hero Avian would bash kids?

She run away but takes really minor damage.

Cat & Prev mentioned how that is a problem for many. I know this might be something very new to adjust to only being able to see what is going on every x seconds. But that is the idea :P We will see how others take it.

No he is not supposed to bash them, they are set to detect danger when they detect danger they flee. I can give the kid a minhealth so they can beat him senseless and he wont go down. :huh:

Edit: About the money looking like a brick. I originally used the money bag from FF but it gives a lot of trouble. Maybe you can make me a money or money bag nif?
Well I got another playtest report and the stealth portion is not liked.
Here is what I think I should do about it:
The bomb threat that clears a portion of road.
Give the player a way of distracting a civilian. Not sure what as yet.
Put a biker that you can knock out and steal his bike to drive to the spot undecected.
I'll try to test this soon, but given my general disdain for FF (in general) right now, I don't know how close 'soon' will be.
That happens when you have done the amount of mod work you have done. A month or six break and urges will freakishly return again.

Anyway, I just bought a new wacom tablet that actually works on my new PC, so the final hurdle that was holding me back has been cleared. i have the skopes, so I will have some actual progress very soon :)
