the extension is .nif and I don't think you can use an already in-game anim file, although you may be able to rig the character so it works.

There are people who know more about this than me, sorry.

Hi.
Download the modtools, either for FF or FFV3R from here:
http://www.freedomfans.com/modforce/index.php
Read the Art Processes Documentation that comes with them.
If you need the FF exporters for Max, you can find them here:
http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/freedomforce/download_2865155.html
Its also worth reading some of the threads here for tips.

Just a quick word of advice: you'll want to reduce the number of triangles in that Spartan mesh before you export to NIF.  A 6000 polygon count for a single character without elaborate accoutrement (I am reminded of that high-poly Ghost Rider mesh with motorcycle made years ago) will really tax the Freedom Force game engine and slow down gameplay.

Hi cavalars, welcome to the FF boards!

Nice work on those meshes, they look great.  The textures are awesome too!

Isn't a poly equal to 2 tris? Still that would be 3000 polys...

Anyway, a good place to start is where Tommyboy suggested.
Also, examining someone else's Max file will be helpful. Start with Nocapeman if using Max 5.1 or male_basic if using an earlier version.
FF1 exporting works on Max 3,4 and 5.0
FF2 exporting is Max 5.1 only

The exporters from NifTools can export a model but not animations for FF1.

Unless you have 3dstudio max, I dont think that you can make animated (ie human) characters for the game. Inert objects, yes. But not people. Unless I've missed something.
As far as I know, nobody has made a human model in Maya and exported it to FF.

Symon might be able to help. I only know 3DS Max and it sounds like you need a NifSkoper. In that case, Symon is your man.

Yes, if you don't have 3DS max then you can't mesh for FF. It's not maya compatible, sorry.

guys...here the problem is NOT maya or 3ds...my problem is NIFSKOPE!!! :banghead:
I recently downloaded the Nifscope 1.0.2. I had to download the C++
package for XP. the installation took me to the webpage and I downloaded
and install it . Nifscope, however still continues to give me the
"application is not configured correctly" and when I re-install it, it
still activates the window that it cannot find the C++ package :angry:Have I
missed something along the way?this is the help I need....thank u again :(

try installing previous versions. I know for me, only every other version worked. Regardless though, I don't think you're really looking at nifskope... at least, not completely. Nifskope is a program to modify meshes already exported to the proper format, and you seem to be looking for exporters
