Okay, you know you want it.
You just don't think anyone else would, nor would anyone do it.
But, what if they would? What if they have?
What mesh or skin would be your "Dream Mesh/Dream Skin"?
Nicolas Cage as Superman? A Calvin and Hobbes mesh? A skin for the Green Lantern of Paradise Island, or the Sinestro Corps member from Latveria? A Taz mesh that turns into a whirlwind? A Raquel_Welch_1969 skin and mesh? All the James Bonds skinned for whichever mesh seems appropriate to the character? A Dynamo Joe skin and mesh? Dr. Goldfoot and some Bikini Machines? (I'm actually working on that last one)
I've already mentioned a couple for myself: a female gunmaster and a female shape-shifter. If I never see them I won't be upset; it may be that I'll have to learn meshing myself to get them. However, I have a lot of stuff that I've never shown anybody, because I thought it was too off the wall for anyone else to want it (or remember it). Then it shows up in a request.
So, what would your dream mesh or dream skin be? Meshers and skinners can join in too. Is there a mesh or skin that is beyond your present capability to do, or one that is beyond the program's capacity to make or the game's ability to play?
What would you like?
i've a load i'd love to see mainly from the same source material. but one i've always wanted and have actully been bugged about why i havn't skinned yet.

V for Vendetta (mesh/skin)
Venture Brothers (mesh/skin)
Steel Spider as he appeared in Thunderbolts (skin), maybe on Beyonder's Doc Ock. And American Eagle as he appeared in Thunderbolts.
Any of the Australian superheroes located here: http://www.webcomicsnation.com/darknebula/ I grew up with these guys ... it'd be a nostalgia-fest to use them in-game.
Pretty much any new custom Timm-verse meshes of Justice League Unlimited ... I have a lot of fun playing with the stuff Volsung and Rev have released so far. If they did a Green Arrow, that'd be rad.
A shapeshifting version of Mystique done in the TJ BeastBoy style.
Mesh/skins for every Watchmen character.
Franky from The Goon (skin/mesh) to go with TJ's Goon mesh.
The complete cast of JMS's new and sadly defunct Supreme Power/Squadron Supreme (skins).
I'll probably think of more later....
My first or second post in a Freedom Force board years ago was a request for 9 meshes (this was back when meshing was getting started, no hexing no skoping). The list included: Bishop, Punisher, Magneto, Batgirl both Barbara and Cassandra, the Wasp, Green Goblin, and Mysterio. It took a few years, but all my dreams came true! :D
That said, I do have one request I can't pull off with skoping I don't think, that is the Mark Brooks designed O*N*E Sentinels:
http://fc03.deviantart.com/fs10/i/2006/135/1/c/Sentinel_designs_by_diablo2003.jpg
Great topic. Since Tommy began meshing everyone ever my request list has dwindled quickly. He did many I thought would be too obscure or complex to be finished, such as Fiddler, Machs 1-4, etc. KennX and JFoam did several hexes that I use to this day back in the pre-nifscope days when those guys would blow me away with their ability to resize and move objects. I learned enough meshing to do some of my own obscure ones, like the lady holding her own head. I collaborated with various people to get a few hard ones knocked out like Black Orchid. I occasionally threw meshes away like when I did Aries from the original Zodiac only to have Tommy do a better one at the same time.
But the one I would love to see is the original Mr. Mind with hexable sailor's hat and pipe, and with his little microphone helicopter thingy from All Star Squadron in his flight animations. I think it'd be a great mesh, but since it's game use is so limited, never put it on my actual list. I do remember Saracen promising D. Boon's Ghost to try to make it at some point, but unless he sent it to him privately, it never happened.
My Batman rogues gallery will never be complete without these guys:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:TerribleTrio.jpg
this seems to be a good place to say "thanks" to people who have answered my requests over the past few years, because i've ALWAYS felt grateful to those who have taken the time. (that's how i got a DC Comics' Prometheus made! thanks, Tommyboy and Syn! i use both, depending on how i want him to fight, due to the different keyframes!)
wow...i'm trying to think of a dream skin i'd like to see...
you know what? i can't! this community is so ridiculously responsive, even though there are fewer and fewer creators as time passes, that i can't think of anything!
Oh yeah ... the cast of Alan Moore's Top Ten (Smax, Kemlo, Toybox, Dust Devil, Irma Geddon, etc), which would all require very tricky meshes. Kemlo, for example, is a hawaiian-shirt wearing cyborg dog ... with glasses no less.

Pretty much my sentiment as well. I got a perfect Superman...twice! (REN and the new VX superman) Martian Manhunter
and Prometheus, who i have an unhealthy man crush on...
Um, maybe a Batman mesh by REN? based on a cross between Jim Lee's batman and Neal Adam's, simply cos his animations capture the characters animations so well, and he differentiates bodytypes (E2_superman, for example). It could even borrow heavily from his Owlman mesh...

My bad Ultimate Evil... I wasn't trying to put down yall work, it just that I only seen He-man with an axe and a few of him with a bald head that where done. But yea if there are more out there can someone point me in their direction.
dont worry man i was only joking. fusion did a bunch of MOTU meshs and i skinned a few though many now are so bad they really need updates. i've also done a bunch of she-ra characters.
Most of my dream meshes have already been made. The only one I can think of would be this version of Doc Samson. He became one of my favorite characters during Byrne's (way too short) run on Hulk.
I've tried skinning him onto other ponytailed meshes but it never looked right to me. :(
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v35/Courtnall6/docsamson.gif)
Thought of another one! I've always loved this look for Ares. He would need to have the sword, axe, knife, and spear going too.
I would love to see the Shaper of Worlds. Always liked that MArvel villian. Been trying to think of a good way to scope him. But alas to no evail so far.
Well... If we're talking dreams...
A male_basic_trenchcoat type mesh with no clipping problems, but isn't bulky. I would kill for that sort of mesh.
My current dream mesh is a classic Pied Piper (I know there's one in the pipeline (no pun intended)), with multiple different horn instruments for different ranged animations, especially if one was his custom double flute, maybe even some of his wierder ones towards the end of Barry's career.
And while not quite a mesh, I'm still dreaming of some left-handed, or ambidextrous keyframes for male_basic (Klaw should *not* be punching with his Vibranium hand, nor Tharok with his flesh hand!)
This is a cool thread man, it's interesting to see what everyone's dreams are. Ha, I find it especially curious that even C6 has a dream character that he hasn't been able to create yet. I really have very little that I want by this time, so many people have been so incredibly awesome to me, creating so many characters that I never thought I'd see...well, there really isn't much left. I suppose the SINGLE character that I'd really love to see would be a dedicated Aquaman mesh by Ren, skinned by C6. He'd have his seahorse steed, tirdent, and armor all hexable, with different keyframes for land and sea. That would be quite awesome. As far as a group of characters, well, some of you probably remember my love of GI JOE. The Beyonder was working on...well...pretty much all of them, but he burned out on them. Since then I've made peace with the fact that Freedom Force really isn't the right game for a GI JOE mod...but I still would love to see those characters done.

Freedom Force is a great game for just about *any* mod. That's why I enjoy it so much. Superhero, GI Joe, Transformers, fantasy, sci-fi, you name it. I even have different herofile folders for each type that I swap out depending on what I feel like playing. :)
One type of mesh a number of people have expressed interest in is a female version of the Plasticman mesh.
Yep.
Dreams are what got me started meshing.
I did my one big dream mesh - Guy Gardner Reborn.

Well Lionheart, on one hand, I want to agree with you, but on the other, it's pretty hard to make GI JOE work right in FF2. In FF1, it was a much better fit, but the fact that they all use guns makes the new energy system pretty ridiculous. If the ammo script was ported over, and you could force powers to continue firing until you issued a different order or the energy ran out, it would be different. As is, GI JOE just doesn't fit. (While Transformers fit pretty well.)

Yep, I didn't keep it in context. I play primarily FF1 too, though I have both games.

Don't go giving Ren ideas now! I still have 3 meshes of his to skin! Then who knows what he'll do after that...he's crazy! Crazy I tellsya!
Haha, I doubt Ren has much interest in doing my dream mesh, although I told him jokingly that I hope my Aquaman stories (if I ever can get back to working on them) will grip both of you with an irrational love of the character that will force you to work night and day on creating said mesh/skin. ^_^

Yeah, Kon's death really hit me. It was sort of the same with Linda Danvers. I feel like the DC I grew up with is gone for a world that is a 8@57@r612@710# of the Pre- and Post-Crisis. The funny thing I think Dc thought they were creating a new world for both old and new readers but it just made everyone upset rather than joining us.

I have a few choices for dream mesh/skins.
Enchantress - DC's classic look. I believe TAP43 skoped one but lost it due to a computer crash. I'm a huge fan of the 80's Suicide Squad and that tease of a skope still dwells in my dreams. Heh
Birds of Prey - I love this comic. I would love to see Lady Blackhawk, Misfit (DAARK VEEENGEAAANCE!) and the new Judomaster.
The others I would love to see are actually Alan Moore projects.
Top Ten - The Alan Moore comic book about super-powered police officers rocked my socks. I don't think some of them could be made (Chemlo, the dog-headed radio guy?) but it would be cool to have them in the game.
Watchmen - With the movie coming out next year of the best comic book ever, I would love to see a complete set of the Watchmen, including Silk Spectre and the second Nite-Owl.
Someone was scoping a Nightowl II, and there is at least one version of Silk Specter out there.
Another dream mesh would be a 1960's Red Skull ala Kirby, with both a pistol and a cigarette in a holder (have him puffing on it as one of the idle animations). He'd need baggy pants and shirt, boots, and that crazy jaw that said "this can't possibly be a mask". Probably be a VX mesh.

How did I miss this thread back in October??? What a great topic!!!
Dream skins? Here's my list:
1. JOHNNY RAYGUN! Highly under rated indie comic by Rich Woodall! I've suggested it before, but no love for Johnny as of yet. link: http://www.johnnyraygun.com/ (http://www.johnnyraygun.com/)
2. Buzz boy. John Gallagher's excellent all ages appeal superhero. Word is he is slated to be worked on by one of the fine skinners here. And BB is worth waiting for! link: http://www.peregrine-entertain.com/Comics/Buzzboy/Buzzboy_Home.html (http://www.peregrine-entertain.com/Comics/Buzzboy/Buzzboy_Home.html)
3. Old school ST Captain Kirk: Look out when Kirk opens up the can whoop butt...which he does often! And what that won't solve a good phaser blast will do!
4. The Bride from Kill Bill, oh man is she good with that katana! It got some discussion and some promises of attempting to skin her...but alas...still waiting. *sniff, sniff*
5. Klingons, preferably the ridged forehead kind with disruptors and battleths (sp?). What can I say...I'm still a Trekkie. And it would be fun to beat on a horde of these guys.
6. The Mystery Men (from the 1999 movie), the Shoveler, the blue raja, the spleen, the Sphinx, Mr. Furious, the bowler et.al. All of them! In fact, it would be great to have Casanova Frankenstein and his henchmen included. link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mystery_Men
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mystery_Men)
Well, I know much of this is wishful thinking. Again, GREAT thread though!!!
The Bride is out there, skinned by hedleschkin, or however it is spelled. The text file, with the location of the mesh, is as follows:
Skin Name: the bride
Mesh Model: instinct_lawhair_ninjato (by fusion it can be found as iln.zip at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/fusionmeshes/files/ )
Author: hedleschikn
Email:
Universe: Kill Bill vol. 1 .
There is a whole Original Trek crew for VXMale2 (I think). They come with an old-style Klingon and Uhura.
...and I'd love to see meshes for The Mystery Men.
The Bride was done??? Really?? Wow! Cool! I'll have to check that out? And the whole Trek crew as well??? Do you know where they can be found???
Daglob...you are truly the master of obscure skinnage!!!
Now, if we could just get Johnny Raygun....... ;)
I cannot find a text file on it, but I think the Trek crew is from Lionheart's SF Yahoo Group. Somewhere out there is also a Redshirt, a Borg Drone, a bunch of Trek Movie, Next Gen, DS9, and Voyager crew, and a Green Lantern from Vulcan (and Zenn-La, and the Kree homeworld, and I did one from Mars, and am considering a Narn).
Hey, I have been treating meshes like I treat SF paperbacks: see it once, and you may never see it again, so get it now. So I have an extra foot of insulation on the walls of my house now and 'way too much junk on my hard drive.
I think it was MJB that had done a Locutus skin on the Klaw mesh...
and of course Lude did the original ST here http://frpmods.com/ludeskins2.html
There's a mesh over at FXForce that *could* be used as a Borg, The_Tester. (You'll find him in the Skins & Meshes section, Hexed Meshes, then Full Meshes) He might need some skin work to make it more Borg-like, though.

That's what I can think of right now: :)
1.A Hulk mesh(based on Jack Kirby's version)
Yes with toes and fingers with keframes close to those of the Ultimate Alliances Hulk(skinned by C6 and meshed by Ren) ;)
Yeah!
Edit: wait... Just a mesh and a keframe since there is already is some awesome Hulk skins!
No, no; go the whole way with a Kirby-inspired skin.
I didn't knew there were others who wants' the Hulk so much! :o (a happy surprise )

My dream meshes would be:
1. Doctor Doom
2. Blackheart
3. Spiral
4. Shuma Gorath
1-3 is done. ;)

Yeah, Ren asked GG not to skope one from his pieces because he intended to make one.
[EDIT]
pic coming soon
see below
I would most like to see male and female caped meshes with belt rockets that flare, like the vx classic Wonder Man. They wouold serve for Pureheart, Superteen, Evilheart, the original Nightwing and Flamebird, etc. And uncpaed version for the Archie Comics Jaguar would also be welcome
SGM enjoys smashing things. Hobbies include dodging large caliber rounds and playing with high-tech radioactive gadgetry. No fingers, no toes; seeking own skin. Must be willing to travel across country.

I changed the head a fair amount aside from flattening out the top and putting the bowl-cut on there. The pants are perma-ripped (see second image) and take new mapping.
Can anyone skin this monster?
Man that's great!
How large is it?

That is so Kirby!
I think that grey skin would look great on him!
See, this is why started this thread.
And YL, if you want to send that mesh to lonespaceranger@gmail.com, I'll give it a shot skinning it.
AWSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOME!!!!! But still needs fingers and toes.....Thats the dream. :(

Assuming the figures are accurate enough (ignoring Galactus) : http://www.mwctoys.com/REVIEW_040405a.htm
that hulk looks very cool.kirby all the way.
Ok, a late addition to this discussion just for fun. I would add the Southern Squadron! Aussie heroes produced by Aussies! Like many of the heroes I seem to gravitate towards they are done rather tongue and cheek. The Southern Squadron are:
• Lieutant Smith, a female Australian military operative who commands the team. Really she is just a "highly trained" character with superior martial fighting skills.
• Nightfighter, a a beer-swilling ocker from Melbourne who surges with super strength when ever he gets excited (according to his creator, David de Vries, he is a combination of The Hulk and Batman). The Nightfighter's battlecry being "Hold on to your braincells!", a rip-off of the Thing's trademark "It's clobbering time".
• Southern Cross, a young, trendy North Shore fashion designer from Sydney with psychokinetic powers. Southern Cross has a power-cane, which he needs to amplify his powers so he can fly.
• Dingo, the werewolf son of a Serbian immigrant (who fills a similar sort of role to that of the Beast in X-Men, or the Thing in the Fantastic Four, according to de Vries).
Great stuff that...and that's fair dinkum!
What makes a Kirby Hulk a Kirby Hulk?
Jack Kirby was one of the most stylized aritists who ever put pencil to paper. He was far more intersted in telling a story than looking realistic, so his characters had somewhat unusual musculature. He, like Ditko, Toth, Eisner, Cole, and others, developed a kind of pen-an-ink shorhand that managed to convey realism, without actually being all that "realistic". At the time he started, many of the comic series in the newstand books were written, drawn, inked, and even lettered by the same person, if they weren't done by a "shop". It was a time when stylists were the ones you recognized (since they seldom got ot sign their work). So many artist were average, or worse, that the few standouts went on to beome near legends.
If you want to know if Kirby did a cover, look at the knees, they're a dead giveaway. His arms and legs didn't always twist and bend like they should, but somehow it worked. Layouts were sometimes a bit strained in the perspective department, but the story zoomed along from dynamic pose to dynamic pose at breakneck pace. He was one of the few artists who could sweep me along in a story so that I didn't even see the final secret in the last panel until I got to it. With a minimum of lines, he drew buldging thews and massive muscles. Some of his inkers added feathering to the forms, but most just followed the squiggley lines Kirby drew that represented the human form.
And if I put a squiggle on a chin, it looks like my pencil slipped; when Kirby did it, it looked masculine.
So, do I follow standard anatomy, or do I follow Kirby? Is the head and hair the main thing, or should I keep the muscular definition to a minimum? What about squiggles?
Posted over in the Skins forum is a non-Kirby Hulk I'm working on. Look at it, and if you have reprints of those first few Hulk stories, look at them and look back at my non-Kirby Hulk. Tell me what you think.
Well, I guess everybody's still thinking about it.
Anway, here is a "first draft", basically starting to put shadows on the muscles and figure out where everything is.
I have kept the musculature to a minimum, and tried to figure out how I would shade a Kirby drawing if I turned it into a painting. Im not sure if the medium shade of green I used as a base is right, but I can change that when the time comes. Bluer, perhaps?
Nice thing about Photoshop, I can do a variety of faces (this one, snarl, roar), and not have to start the whole thing over. When I'm done, I intend to make a gray copy of it also.
Nice base! i'm excited to see a finished product! kirby hulk rocks!, now we need a kirby thing too :)
Here's our boy in a gray study (all done with a little de-saturation layer).

Those look really great - I especially love the green.
Sorry if the mapping is a little goofy; not being a skinner, I'm never sure whether it's easier to make the maps flatter or to make them curved so there's less distortion.
Is that just great or what?!
Daglob! Wow dude, i love the grey hulk, it's really impressive what a few well-placed highlights will do to a skin. your style reminds me of Atomic Robot's, and thats great, since he was a king of Silver Age characters too.

of course, with nifskope a skinner can manipulate the mapping ;)
great job on the skins!
My dream mesh or skin.....A batman mesh made by Ren (or Fusion) and skinned by C6(or TUE). :P :D
And a hulk mesh by Ren(or Fusion) with the snowman keyframes mixed with all possible male_hulking keyframe sets skinned by C6(or TUE). :P :D
i think hulk needs a snarl look.showing a little teeth.
Yes, to me Kirby = mouth open!
Ah!, then you'll like this version:
I'm trying to see how far I can get his mouth opened before it starts to look funny. I "greened" him up a bit, too.
excellent!now he needs released so i can go re-arrange gamma base!hulk smash!
wow, he's looking even better now!
Well, if you think he's ready, I'll send the skin to Yellow Lantern and he can release it.
Hulk up. Download now.

I'm so happy :D
You know, I've been watching old Thundercats episodes the last few days, and I've gotten to thinkinging....I would REALLY love to see the Thundercats all meshed and skinned for FF. I know someone (I believe it was TUE) did an incredibly awesome Lion-O, but I'd love to see the other cats, and all their villains in game. When you think about it, they'd fit in REALLY well in FF, probably the best of all the Saturday morning cartoons from back then.
My dream mesh for a long time is a demonic mesh with alot of spikes and horns and a coatlike robe, like Carthus from the Inhumans.

Wingzero actually did quite a few Thundercat meshes, actually.

nope sorry i did a cheetara ages ago, and i have thought about doing her again along with the other cats, just haven't seen any meshs i feel work
yanno.. i'd love to see the Bugs from Starship Troopers. i also have to second the request from the first page for the Knightsabers, and add on their Moto-slaves and a Boomer. i'd also like to see meshes of the gundams from Gundam Wing, in particular Epyon and Wing Zero movie version.
Whoops, my mistake, I found the readme, and it was actually done by Zivon23.
My most wanted dream mesh has already been made which was Archangel with animated wings. I have others though :D.
Original Weapon X Wolverine: The original version with wires, helmet(with or without)
Feral Fire: Old city of heroes character I made.
