Title: Need Advice - Flash Development Tools?
Post by: Pyroclasm on October 16, 2007, 05:33:42 AM
I'm working on improving my company's website through the use of an interactive application.  What I'd like to do is make it so my potential clients can create their own graphic mockups.  I'd like a client to be able to type in a message, choose from a shallow pool of fonts, colors and have it display on the product model of their choice.  Preferably the application can size the letters accordingly without the client needing to adjust them.  They should also be able to upload their logo to display on the product.  They could then save the mockup image as a jpg to submit with their order.
I'm assuming that this would be done using Flash.  The concept reminds me of some of the avatar creation or those "write your message here" apps I've seen floating around the Net.  Does anyone know of a particular development tool that would allow me to do something like this without becoming a Flash expert?  Is this something that is easily done?  Even pointing me in the right direction to search for more information would be helpful.  (Google is useless if you don't know the correct term to use.)  Thanks a bunch.

Not sure how detailed you want your embedded app to be, but it sounds like you're looking for something like SWiSH Max 2 (http://www.swishzone.com/index.php?area=products&product=max)... it's basically a streamlined Flash-authoring program for the non-animator... I've only ever used it briefly, but it's decent from what I've seen.
