Title: A full skin tutorial
Post by: Lunarman on October 14, 2007, 05:43:02 AM
I've made a full blown skin tut, from start to finish. It will introduce you to the basic concepts of FF skinning and walk you through making one.

You can get it HERE! (http://thedod.freedomforceforever.com/downloads/The%20Five%20Steps%20of%20skinning.doc)

Crit welcome and comments much appreciated. Is there anything I missed?

Thankyou

Nice tutorial you got there Lunarman.

I think you pretty much covered most of the basics in skinning there. Thanks for sharing this.  ^_^

Can't wait to try it out.

If this is just an introduction to the basic concepts, will there be an advance skinning tutorial in the future then? :P

Great job Lunarman!

It's always interesting to see how other people skin.

Very nice tutorial, Lunie.

I laughed at the honeycomb texture being 'all the rage' part.

Two things, have you got google docs? It's too big for google docs and so won't open there. You have to open it with microsoft word.
Which leads on to the second thing, are you using a computer without microsoft word?

I wanted to have a pdf, but every converter just messed it up.

Thanks, for the feedback.

I do have Word, and when it opens the pics overlap and the layout is a bit off, making it difficult to read.  If I find the time, lunarman (and if you'd like me to do so), I can rearrange the document and try to convert it to PDF.  Just let me know. :)

I hope you don't read this post as a complaint.  I take my hat off to you for producing this document. :D

Hmmm, it looks perfect on my computer. But the alignment thing and picture size thing was the problem I got when I turned it into an PDF.

this is what a  page should look like:

if you're getting something different then let me know. I'd hate to have shoddy workmanship :)

Thankyou

I'm definitely seeing a different document.  It might have to do with page setup defaults.  Are you using a page size other than 8.5" x 11" letter? *shrug*

In any case, you have mail at your DOD Yahoo account... ;)

The work isn't shoddy; Word is simply a fickle programme. :)

A nice tutorial, LM, thanks.
And it works OK in OpenOffice V2, for those, (like me), too cheap....I mean principled... to buy Office and/or Word.
