I thought I read somewhere you could download COH for free. Was I mistaken?
They're giving 14-day trials out like candy. Any current subscriber can give you a trial code (through the referral program), you can also seek it out on google. CoH Trials, etc.
I'd be more than happy to send you a code. Just PM me an e-mail address.

well, yeah. Even if you did get a free version of the game, you wouldn't be able to play it. You can pay for an account at the NCsoft official site, then download the client.
If you accept the code you get to download the client for free. Then you get to test out the game for 14 days.

You do still need to create a billing account to use the free trial (with a valid credit card number), but you won't be billed if you pull out before the 14 day mark.
But, boy, won't the client be frustrated?! :P

i registered an account but when I enter my account name and password it says it is entered incorrectly. is it the same information I use to get into the plaync site. I am trying to get on through the updater
You need to use your name and password from your game account as opposed to your plaync account. For example, my plaync account that I use to log on to the site is Reepimeister, but my game account (now changed) was bigboyben7. I logged in to CoH with the second.
Dunno if that makes sense or answers the problem.
I think I realize now I need to create a game account with a serial. I will try a trial serial. Thanks
