This is just awesome news. Genndy Tartakovsky, the man behind Samurai Jack, Dexter's Laboratory, and Star Wars: Clone Wars is slated to do a retro-ish Luke Cage mini-series (http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=124776). Tartakovsky is one of my favourite contemporary animators and directors and I don't think it's an understatement to say that he, along with Powerpuff Girls creator Craig McCracken, played a large part in reviving the moribund North American animation industry during the late 1990s. Can't wait to see him use his quirky art-style and sense of humour on Luke Cage.
What's interesting is that as a creator he really has a thing for seeing his characters kick @$$. That was even the original name of the powerpuff girls. I hope to see a LOT of violence in varying levels of cartoonyness.
I about exploded with excitement when I read about this on Newsarama! Sweet Christmas, am I looking forward to this!
I'm a great admirer of Tartakovsky's and, of course, I adore silk shirted Luke Cage! I haven't been this hyped for a comic in a looooonnnnnnnggggggg time! Well, not since JLA vs Avengers anyway.
Bring on the Mandingo Disco Love God goodness that is classic Luke Cage!
Woo-hoo! Ren said everything I wanted to, but let me just add that I'll DEFINITELY be watching this!
I am so hoping that he writes him like his Action Hank character from Dexter's Lab; seems to be the obvious characterization for the character in that time period.
I was thinking the exact same thing Spe-Dog. My first thought when I saw the article was "Action Hank" :D
