Title: Minneapolis bridge collapse - scary gets scarier when it's so close to home.
Post by: Uncle Yuan on August 02, 2007, 04:42:27 AM

Minneapolis I-35W bridge collapses (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070802/ts_nm/bridge_collapse_dc_14;_ylt=Ahd4hIln.AxUwDYiELgosP4E1vAI)

It's pretty surreal, to say the least.  As far as I know everyone I know is OK.  The death toll is actually pretty mild compared to what it could be.  Like a school bus full of teenagers that dropped 20 feet with one section - a few kids with walking injuries but nothing serious or fatal.  If that bus had been maybe a dozen yards further along, it would be a very different story . . . yikes.

And make sure you give your people an extra smile and a hug today.

I used to have nightmares as a kid that things like this would happen.  I loathe bridges.

I live in South St. Paul, MN (across the river from Mpls. for those far away) and when I first heard it, I thought they had to be kidding.  I wish they were.  My heart goes out to those involved and those whose loved ones were involved.

Yuan is right...an extra smile and hug is in line.  We never know... :(

I hate going over deep water for anything, and after hearing about it I started to freak. I hope no one hear has family around/involved that area, and if they do that they are ok.
