Title: Question about a comic (I think its The Maxx but not sure)

I was chatting with a friend the other night and we got to talking about comics.  The only one she was familiar with at any length and that into was one that we think was The Maxx. 

It had a lot of similar plot elements but she swears that the thing was in black & white.

Was there a black and white run on The Maxx at some point?? Does anyone have any scans that can show?

It would help if you listed what she described, said, and etc. As far as I know there hasn't been a b&w version of The Maxx.

There was a black & white ashcan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashcan_edition) of Maxx #1 that was in limited release along with a number of other B&W Image Comics first issue ashcans... I don't think there were any other B&W issues of Maxx, though.

Here's a near-mint copy (http://www.ebay.ph/viItem?ItemId=150141119842) selling for 800 pesos (roughly $20 Canadian) on eBay Philippines.
