What games are you currently playing and what games do you see yourself playing in the fall with the release of DirectX 10 there are a lot of really amazing game for the PC on it's way.
Also are you guys playing any mods or anything? Civ's Fall from Heaven, Jedi Knight's Open Jedi Project, whatever else?
I ask because I want to get the games people are play and have large fan-base around on the site. We are a game mod site but I see a real lack of some of the games I play (freedom force) or games my friends play (the sims) and I want to try to get easily accessible content on the site. Older games are losing content everyday to sites closing and creators vanishing.
Also what do you think is missing from the site?
Anyway thanks to anyone who offers feedback.
I haven't really looked at what new PC games are coming out, but I do know Starcraft II comes out in October.
Console-wise, I'm stuck with my PS2 as I can't afford a next gen system. I'm looking forward to Smackdown vs. RAW 2008. Provided the CAW mode doesn't suck as badly as 2007's and they have the commentary and introduction glitches worked out, that is.
Not playing any PC games at the moment - I've even been taking a break from City of Heroes - but am playing Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life Special Edition on my PS2.
You mentioned the Sims. I played that and got all the expansions except the last one. Got burned out and fed up that most of the good downloadable content made by players were on paysites (I did subscribe to both Simfreaks and 8th Deadly Sim for a while, though), and have never gotten The Sims 2 because unlike the first game, the prices of the main game and the expansions have not gone down after new expansions were released and I am wary of the same problem as before (ie, paysites having the best content).
Thx for replying GM.
I've got one more question:
How many of you are currently still playing FF or FFVTR?
Currently playing Oblivion for 360 and replaying Gears of War. Also playing Valkyrie Profile 2 for PS2. Plan on getting King of Fighters XI, Assassins Creed and maybe Virtua Fighter 5 in fall. Not playing any PC games since I kinda gave up on PC gaming.
Once in a while I play FFvTTR. Dont play FF much since its on my old pc but I do hook it up and play it now and then.

Great news! PS3 is "dropping" the price by $100! Hahahaaha, yeah, Im still not getting one either.
Right now Im playing:
Civ 4 with Visa mod on Lan. The guy who hosts the games plays on VISTA so we rarely get to the 1900's without crashing.
Stalker: a great game that is not recieving enough press because it wasent made in the US or Japan.
Sims 2: Seasons because Im tough, that that's what tough men play. Now to download some more accessories for my kittens!
:ffvstr: Seriosly I wont play it for a few months and then I get sucked back in. Im sucked back in right now.
Will be playing:
Civ 4 Beyond the sword (probably on LAN too): I wont get sick of it. It rocks.
Medieval 2 expansion Forgot the name but yeah, medieval 2 is another game that got shafted in awards yet rules so much.
Company of heroes expansion are you guy's noticing a trend here? I love strategy. Also like another person said: Command and conquer 3 made me realize how much I love company of heroes. It's not just realistic, it's a style of gaming that is fun for strategy nerds.
Perhaps one day...
Crysys. Duuuuuuude. I will need an entirely new computer, and by posts I read I know I have one of the better ones on the forum.
Spore You know... when the announce a date. Again.
i play :ffvstr: whenever i feel like
i am currently playing soldier front right now
ps3 price dropped 100$?
i heard about it says that will be 499$ til september
don't wanna get one yet til there are better games for it.
I find that I tend to go back to older games more than play new ones.
Partially in that a lot of the new games seem to be style over substance, but also cause I have an older machine that I have no intention of upgrading to Vista or DX10 (my poor video card would die)-- Maybe when i get a new machine at some point in the future.
Of the new-ish ones I'm playing:
Oblivion (with minimal detail settings)
Starshatter: The Gathering Storm (with the Battlestar Galactica Mod)
Older Games:
Operation Flashpoint
FFvTR (yep still fire it up)
Battle for Westnoth (Open Source)

The way I heard it is that the 60gig is going to sell for $499 until supplies run out, then they are introducing a $599 slightly better ps3 (say an 80 gig or something). BUT I heard they are taking out the backwards compatibility tech since it was too expensive.
well i think thats retarded
wii is better cause of the games and is for grownups too

I've got one more question:

I have been playing some. Mostly I've been playing CoH and Lord of the Rings Online. However, since my wife and I both play -- and we haven't played CoH much since LOTRO went live -- we will probably be suspending the CoH accounts and focusing on LOTRO. If so, I will be back in FF much more for my superheroing (I like FF1 better than FFVTR; far more FX and danger maps available for the first game.)
I play nothing. I have about 40 games for the PC i have never played because my education takes up too much damn time...and maybe thats part of the reason games and mod communities dry up and blow away, we dont have as much time. i find the older i get the less time i have for me, and consequently my hobbies. i haven't sat down to just draw for months.
If i had tome to play, it would be Guild Wars, in preparation for EOTN, Dawn of War because its beautiful and so true to the 40k universe in terms of style, and City of Heroes/Villains, because i want my cape, dammit!
armoured core 4 and tenchu Z on the 360
secondlife on the PC
I'm not much of a gamer lately. I just dusted off my PS2 and played some Spider-Man 2 the other day. I have a bunch of older games that I enjoy, but never seem to have the time to go back and finish.
The last PC game I got hooked on was Oblivion.
I don't play FF/FFvtTR as I would need to reinstall everything after the last hard drive crash.
We've talked about getting a Wii.
The PC game I'm most looking forward to, is Spore.

me too. exactly.
i'm also currently playing Spider-man 3, and Transformers for PC.
i occasionally load up Punisher, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and GTA San Andreas too.
I'm really out of the loop on games, i know i like super heroes, so thats what i usually play. if there was a really decent space pirate type game, like the old wing commander series but more free-roamy i'd play that, same with a giant monster/giant robot action game.
What i play now in order of most often
1)Everquest 2
2)Medieval 2:Total War
3)FFVTTR -naturally
4)Sim City 4
5)Neverwinter Nights 2
What i plan to play in the future when they come out
1) more everquest 2 expansion :P
2) more medieval 2 expansions
3)Spore- when it comes out eventually
4)TNA wrestling game- whenever it comes out
I dont own a recent console not even a PS1 just my N64 i play WWF:No Mercy cuz its still a decent wrestling game i wish they would come out with an online wrestling game for PC that isnt name branded like WWE TNA etc...mabye something where you can build the whole Wrestling Organization from scratch from the wrestlers and titles to the ring/arenas and the moves but its just a dream .... :(
Now:
Guild Wars. And been playing around with the TexMod...I'm currently working on making presearing a REAL candy land :P
Fallout 2
Worms Armageddon
Age of Wonders Shadow Magic and the Modding tools
Freedom Force 1
CrimsonLand
Future:
GW:EN
Fallout3
Starcraft2
Spore
In order. Cos I'm gonna play Spore till I DIE.
*spasms
Second Life
On occassion Dreamfall
- NBA 2K7 (PS2)
- Fight Night: Round Three (PS2)
- XIII (PS2)
- Shadow of the Colossus (PS2)
The most recent PC games I played were probably Rainbow Six 3: Ravenshield, Halo, Half-Life 2, and Max Payne 2. The last mod I downloaded was probably a "kung-fu" mod for the original Max Payne game.
:ff: :ffvstr: FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well I've been playing Marvel Nemesis lately, it's grown on me... I just wish there were some more characters in the game. It's a pretty good fighting engine. It could use a little more diversity for the character moves but the control and graphics are pretty good.
Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition: Because the only thing better than RE4 is MORE RE4.
Dawn of War: Dark Crusade: Because it's a great game to LAN with 7 other friends.
I'm currently still playing Kirby:Squeak Squad, Mario and Luigi Partners in Time and Hulk: Ultimate Destruction.

World of Warcraft
Mostly the Darkspear server. Main is named "Marokite" of the "Divine Retribution" guild.
Right now that's all I the time I have.
Anyone get Civ 3 Beyond the sword yet? Tomorrow when it's a proper hour to be awake I'll try to start a thread with a quick review. In a few words it's great though, cosmetically alters the game a lot and the new espionage and religious options are pretty awesome too.

PC: Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (which I have had to start over from the beginning due to a glitch...razza frazza)
Nintendo Gamecube:
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron 2: Rogue Leader
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (I havn't played it in six months, but nontheless)
Resident Evil (never played the original release, and I'm only about two days in, put I'm pretty damn impressed by the GCN version)
Game Boy Advance
Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap (probably havn't played THIS in in 7 months)
Sword of Mana (about 5 or 6)
Pokemon Emerald version
QuoteResident Evil 4: Wii Edition: Because the only thing better than RE4 is MORE RE4.
Hellz Yeah! And I havn't even played RE4 yet, and I still say that.
City of Heroes/Villains (surprise! ;)). I only have space for one time-consuming game in my life. However (for those of you who don't stroll down to the bottom of the forums), CoH/V has been pretty active recently with a couple of very substantial content updates that have changed the game significantly. I've only played since September of last year, and I'm struck by how different the game-world is, even since then. Not bad for a three-year old PC game.
EC
resident evil four for wii?
i've bought it yesterday, i'm currently taking a break from it
my arm is pretty worn out from the controller. i got up to where you have to find to havles of a key and insert them to the door, so i can get inside the church!
darn you guanados!
(can't spell it)
PC: World of Warcraft. Been playing for about a year now. Have 2 level 70's, one Tauren Shaman and one Night Elf Druid. It's been fun, but in that year of playing, I've purchased other games i haven't even touched yet. So I canceled my account for now. I might possibly play it again once the new expansion comes out, which hopefully will not be for a while.
PS2: Just finished Bully. If you're a fan of Rockstar games, this one is pretty damn fun once you get into it.
Xbox: StarWars Republic Commando. Just started this one tonight for about two hours, and so far I really like it.
Games I've purchased since playing WOW but have hardly touched: The Warriors (PS2), Viewtiful Joe (PS2), Hitman Contracts (Xbox), Grabbed by the Ghoulies (Xbox), GTA Vice City Stories (PS2). Most of these were mega cheap.

Out of all those untouched games you have, I recomend Viewtiful Joe. It has great gameplay, a sense of style, and is probally the more unique of the unplayed games you own. You may not like it that much if you're against 2-D or 2.5-D games though.
The only game I play anymore is City of Heroes/Villains. It's a great game and I recommend it highly to anyone who is a fan of super heroes.
If anyone is interested in trying out CoH/V for free send me a PM with your e-mail address. No credit card required for a 10 day free trial. :)

Yeah, I've heard great things about the game. But I also heard it has a high difficulty level, which I'm not that big of fan of. I like a good challenge, but games that are extremely difficult for the sake of being extremely difficult aren't something I particularly care for, which is why I never finished Devil May Cry or Ninja Gaiden (both of which I own, ironically, XD). Eventually though, I will give VJ a try as it does look interesting, and I haven't played a 2D game in a long time. I saw it for 8 dollars and couldn't resist. A whole bunch of games at one of my local stores is marking down games like mad to make room for the new stuff, so I took advantage. A lot of games, especially for XBox, have been marked down to as low as 5 dollars.

Hey Sword, is Kirby: Squeak Squad any good? From what I've seen some of the newer Kirby and Yoshi games have pretty gimmicky (with the tilting the game to control the characters and whatever) but I generally found the Kirby games fun, although they're not always very challanging. I've managed to get a D/S recently, and have been looking for games I'd be interested in.
Medieval 2: Total War, FFVtTR .... a few MAME games, but I don't think I'm supposed to talk about them on these forums.
I completed Hitman 4:Blood Money or in Chinese "Xie Qian" and it was a blast. That game is freakin awesome. It is linear, but the missions are wide open and you want to replay it just to see how things unfold if you go about doing damage differently.
Now, I'm playing Tomb Raider Anniversary. I can't believe its been more than ten years since the first one. So far I'm still running around the manor trying to get a feel for the new Lara....it seems she can't jump as high as the fist two and they've taken away the cartwheels. I only played TR 1 and 2 because I read reviews about the others sucking.
PC: Guild wars

Is that any good on the Wii? I had it on the DS but lost my DS on the subway.
Im consiering getting a wii (which I cannot forget on the subway) and Im wondering if I should pick that game up with the console.
thalaw: LOVE Hitman 4 or "el hombre calvo con pistolas" as I call it in spanish :P
I would love to see them add about 25% of that open endedness to a punisher sequel. You know... a few creative kills and a tiny bit of optional stealth.
i havent played it too much because my tv is old and stupid, and it keeps fuzzing when im tryin to read the screen but from what i have played, its pretty fun.
the only prob ive had so far was using the defribulator.. (sp?... :P) but that could the lack of space in my room and i was tryin to lay back and play....
Wooo, ok I'll bite. I don't really play games these days because of lack of time...but when I do, these are the few I run to:
Playstation 2:
Tekken 5- love the tekken games. Easy to play and no thinking required...also, love me some tekken force (tekken 3-4).
Jak 3- Really fun game with a good story. Dialogue ain't so bad either. However...I hated driving through the tunnel full of evil fungi creatures and giant bats and...agh. :P
Ratchet and Clank 2: Going Commando- Very fun game and it's sorta humorous. I now understand why so many people love this series. It's sorta like crash with tons of weapons. I'll eventually finish this game one day... (im actually on the last mission.)
Final Fantasy 12- Eh...only on those days I'm really bored and want to finish some side missions/hunts. Though, it is fun fighting giant dragons with magic and swords.
Playstation:
Crash team racing: I love this game too much to just quit. I should upgrade one day, right?
Dreamcast:
Yes, I do still play my dreamcast. Shush! It was a good system before ps2, Gamecube, and Xbox came out and it had a bunch of good games that eventually ended up on those systems. It seems to be going through some sort of revival period at the moment considering it is still getting some games and Phantasy star online servers for DC were up for a small amount of time. Anyway, games...
Street fighter 3- It may not be as popular as the alpha series or even the street fighter 2 series, but it's pretty cool with awesome graphics.
Capcom vs. SNK 2- My most fave game. I can play this for quite awhile without getting bored and it has a huge cast of characters. I believe the cast list rivals MVC 2.
Marvel vs. Capcom 1 & 2: I don't play it much these days, but anytime I want super crazy action...i usually turn to these games.
Sonic Adventure 2: Not as good as the first game and some interactivity was removed, but it provides a good challenge.
Powerstone 1 & 2: Fun game...better in multiplayer. Not much too really add.
Street Fighter alpha 3: Dramatic battles = fun/challenging
Guilty Gear X: It's just fun. :P
And on really really boring days:
Seventh Cross Evolution: It's an interesting game, but it can become boring really really fast, especially in the beginning. However, I did like that I could literally create a large variety of creatures (800,000 i believe the box advertised) and have them fight bosses and such and try to survive in nature. I'll call it Spore...the prequel.
Evolution 2: Dreamcast didn't have many rpgs and this game is one of the few. Short and kinda fun...with dungeon crawling.
PC:
Lunia: I cant really comment since it's in Beta mode and I havent really had time to give it a run through...but I'm playing it, so yeah.
Update:
PC: Sam & Max Season 1. So far I love it. It's very nostalgic going back to a good point-n-click adventure and I HIGHLY thank the developers for sticking with mouse control. As much as I loved the 3D adventure games, like Escape from Monkey Island and Grim Fandango, I always hated how they did away with the mouse control. Sam & Max in 3D + mouse control = awesome. However, if it were up to me, I'd probably stick with cartoon-comic style 2D graphics, but that's just me (note: I do NOT mean cell-shaded graphics. No way). I just love the idea of Sam & Max having a similar art style as Curse of Monkey Island, my all time favorite point-n-click adventure.
Xbox: just finished Star Wars Republic Commando and Grabbed by the Ghoulies. Already made a rant post about Ghoulies (thought it sucked), but SWRC was a great game. I thought it would be a typical generic SW shooter, but it actually has a lot of really good presentation value, Halo-esque gameplay, and actual characters that show personality. Sure, it makes NO sense whatsoever that your CLONE buddies all have different voices, but it doesn't matter because their different personalities actually make the game interesting. Only downside is the game is too short and ends very abruptly since it takes place between episodes 2 and 3.
I plan on playing Hitman 2 and Hitman Contracts sometime in the near future.
PS2: N/A at the moment, but I still have Viewtiful Joe, The Warriors, and GTA Vice City Stories, probably playing in that order.
PC:
Lord of the Rings Online
BioShock
Halo 2 vista
ShadowRun
Xbox360
None - I got the 3 rings of death so now it's in TX being fixed
PC:
:ffvstr: - FFX has made the rumble room a blast, as well as all the content other forum members have contributed. I don't think I'll ever drop this.
MVP 2005 - I was sad to hear EA lost it's MLB license but a group of talented modders put together a MVP 2007 mod and......wow, just wow. :o
Day of Defeat - Well, I was playing this until things started becoming weird and the game started crashing so much.
Xbox 360:
Forza 2 - I'm not much of a car person, but the customization tools this game provides is spectacular. It's like Photoshop 1.0 maybe worse, but still. I actually created a pretty cool Batmobile, a silly Green Lantern paint scheme for a VW and turned a Corvette into a Flash-mobile. The racing is fun for a little bit, very little bit...keep in mind I'm not much of a car person.
Halo 2 - I know, I know. It's not a 360 title but that's what I've been playing like a mad man lately preparing for Halo 3. I think my time spent with Day of Defeat has increased my skills in Halo, I'm more then halfway through the game on Legendary mode. Before, I was just cannon fodder on that level of difficulty.
after seeing transformers again i got into again...
Currently playing
Transformers: autobot for the ds.
this game rocks, free roaming scanning vehicles and create your own transformer!
this game is solid.
This weekend, I'm playing the Guild Wars: Eye of the North preview. (http://ianreviewsstuff.blogspot.com/2007/08/guild-wars-eye-of-north.html)
I'm also playing through Deus Ex again.
Haven`t played anything new in a while, but I can always get back to free roam games I played before: Ultimate spider-man, GTA-San Andreas etc., oh and rumble room in :ffvstr: of course.
I just picked up Metroid Prime 3 for Wii. It's by far the best of the series as of yet, and has amazing FPS controls, comparible to a mouse/keyboard setup. It's a beautiful game to boot!

Bioshock
Oblivion

Counter Strike.
halo and :ffvstr:
Gamecube:
Skies of Arcadia Legends, I recently picked it up and from what I've played it's pretty good (don't mind the fact that it's been released for years now :P)
Wii:
Mario Strikers Charged, It's a fun game... I suck at it though.
Transformers the Game: it's okay-ish...
DS:
Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon, I love this game. Farming and combat works somehow.
Drawn to Life, This really is a cool game and I hope they'll make more games like this, drawing your own hero is really cool ^_^
playin rumble fighter and pokemon diamond...........................and ff12 revenant wings.
Holy necro-bump Batman!
Fine then, I'll update my list. Currently I just renewed my CoH/V account for another month. Been playing loads of Call of Duty 4 on my PS3. Every so often I'll plug in Soul Calibur 4 and swing some swords around but mostly it's just CoD4.
