dispite everything, i've never got myself together to make a portfolio, and now a certain local game company has some positions open i'm getting myself together, problem is, i'm not quite sure -how- to start :unsure:
I know I should include info about myself
I know I should include different types of work, 2d, 3d and textures
I know I should show a range of work to show my progression
i'll be grabbing some new webspace for this so I also have to decide on a name @_@ (not the kinda person to use my real name as a website adress)
visual wise, this is a mock up of the style I plan on using (not the layout, just the style)

I plan on hand drawing every frame so they're all different, possible working on white metal with diffent coloured off centre stripes depending on the page, i'm using white as a background 1 because I can offset with a shodow very easily, and 2 it's not distracting, I was originally going with light blue because it's a calm colour but I want to contrast the plate metal frames and the blue just wouldnt work for that.
(current ideas for the header is a small 4 frame rotating cog gif hidden in there somewhere, or a metal eyeball looking about)
anyway, if you've made a portfolio, or your someone who has to look at portfolio's, any help and tips you can offer would be VERY appreciated.

i've gone through about a dozen different designs I didnt like, so it's still "themeless" or "styleless" and I need to elaborate the pages a bit more, but so far the messy thing looks like this

I'm going to contradict IPS here just a little bit though he has a lot of very valid advice.
- The format you laid out is fine. It's simple, precise, and will allow the focus to be on the work. As long as the "heavy dark metal" is not overdone or done to extremes then it shouldn't present a problem.
- While I agree that you should showcase a variety of work, remember that you also wanting to your best work. If you suck at anime then don't put up an attempt at anime. If you suck at the Bruce Timm type stuff then don't put up an attempt at that. That being said, don't put up only one catergory of work. Go with your best work regardless but stress that you are capable of a variety of work.

the company is climax, the 2 positions i'm applying for are environment artist and character artist, leaning towards environment.
erm, i'm not really sure what I have on there that would make you think goth >_> it's just white pages with placeholder titles froma scrapped theme, lol.
the layout isnt final, it's more so I can just see right now what I have to work around :)
