Not sure if this is the right area on forum, but I just wanted to drop everyone a line to say hello.
Due to major upheavals in my personal life, it's been almost 2 full years since I did anything FF-related, but I recently decided to lurk around a bit, so I logged in and took a look around. I appreciate the flurry of PMs I suddenly got from people who must have noticed this :).
Can't promise I will contribute anything new to FF, but I have kept my site running and am actually looking at a few things.
It does take time to catch up with 2 years of progress, so I'm in student mode right now , but we'll see... I'm a fast learner. :)
Cheers (and special thanks to tommyman for dragging me back, even a little :) )
Never got a chance to meet you. You left a few weeks before I joined (that was back when i was jfig92). But I'd still like to welcome you back :D.
There is plenty to catch up on, I was gone for 7 months and fell horribly behind. But I'm sure someone will catch you up on things.
EDIT: I'll try to be helpful
Gammapatrol is gone
Unfluffybunny is now freedom asylum
FFX is now located at http://ffx.freedomforceforever.com/
welcome back, sir alex.
We had a surprise party planned...but now you know about it, so it was canceled. *shrugs*. Anyways, it's good to have you back whether you're contributing or just posting from time to time. Just having your site around and still fully functional is a great thing considering how many people still use it and the lack of FF sites as of now (and some are still closing).
Just to catch you up a bit:
1. Tons of meshes and skins have come out
2. Volsung made a bunch of timmverse meshes and revenant provided awesome skins as has C6
3. I kinda went mod crazy and some of your mods gave me quite a few ideas.
4. m25 made a bunch of awesome tools such as herotodat
5. FFX got an update
6. Nifskope - 'nuff said.
7. Ezscript and some people are finally making use of it and providing more content for the community.
Yeah, alot has happened. Good luck catching up. :P
Its great to hear from you again Alex, I'm glad (hope) everything has been well. Even though there has been nothing new on your side I think I can speek for the community when I say that we REALLY appreciate keeping your site alive for us all this time to stop in now and then and grab some much needed material.
Take care, hope to see ya around.
(believe it or not, you are the person whom originally showed me how to install skins/meshes way back in .......2002!)
Alex,
Really great to see that you're at least lurking again! You don't know me from a hole in the wall, but I've been lurking about since the early days with FF. Always deeply appreciated your efforts, and still do! Welcome back.
DEATH
Alright! I'm really beginning to think that we've got a second renaissance of FF going here. Haha, welcome back Alex, and let me add my thanks to those of the others for keeping your site running, it's been a huge help to me as I've been working on my projects. Whether you contribute or not, join in the community, we're glad to have you back!
Welcome back Alex.
Big A is back! YAY!!!!!
Welcome home Alex! ;)
Wow, it's like a legend has returned!
When I first got into FF your site was the starting point for my adventures expanding the game, and when I recently returned (after a loooong absence) it was where I rekindled my interest in the community.
Welcome back!
Couldn't have said it better myself Manfred!
Welcome back alex
So great to see you again Alex!
Welcome back to the fold Alex! Always good to see the old stagers return. And don't feel under any pressure to follow up on your output from before (although it'd be mighty nice...), its just good to hear from you.
welcome back alex, hope you stay about
Welcome back! Hope all's well.
There are lots of interesting developments to investigate on the FF front. Nifscope has completely revolutionized hexing, M25's EZScript has done the same for scripting. Prevosionary has been cranking out mods, Benton Gray has taken on the small task of modelling the entire DC universe, there's been a major new version of FFX, etc. etc.
And if you decide to lurk instead of join in, that's fine too. (You'll be in good company--Dr. Mike dropped a line a few weeks ago indicating he's still checking up on us every so often.)
Welcome back, Alex!
Good to see you man!
Holy moley!
Hi, Alex!
Long time no see.
Hopefully things are quieting down for you.
Cheers,
YL
Thanks to all for the greetings.
I've been looking things over and have three things in the works for now. Stay tuned.
Ooh, that sounds exciting. Even if you weren't working on something, though, it IS great to have you back.
You think?
I have no idea how in the hell that message ended up over here while I was int he Films, TV and such forum posting on Who Wants to be A Superhero... season 2.
-Scratches head-
Uh...
WELCOME BACK Abenavides! I'm still jealous of that very hip and pulp avatar.
RTT
Welcome back, Alex!!! :D
Welcome back Alex! Your Freedom Fortress was also one of my headquarters for FF add-ons since I first got into the game. And it's still a great source of inspiration!
Right on! Welcome back Alex! Despite my low post count, I am an old-timer, was on the original Official Forums as Capt. Action. And yes, I still have your site on my Favorites.

Lol, I deleted my response right after you deleted yours...uh...yeah never mind :P
Welcome back Alex! :)
And there's an update at the Fortress! (really!)
Hopefully more to come ...
Alex is back? I thought I saw you here awhile ago, lol.
I don't come here that much anymore, but it sure is good to see you here again. I'm still waiting for your new hero files :P
Welcome back, Alex!
Thanks to one and all for the kind hellos.
It's nice to see so many old friends and hear from some new faces.
I don't think I'm 100% up to speed yet, but I am working on several new (for me) fronts.
Hope to have another new thing-a-ma-jig for you all this weekend.
Welcome back Alex! And a new mod too! Awesome!
Hey Alex, quick question for ya.
Back before you left for awhile you were working on a hero editor for FFV3R. Is that still in the making?
reason being is that that is one tool that has never been made for FFV3R yet, we can kinda get MrBrdo's hero tool working for the 2nd game but its not 100% (more like 75%).
Excellent timing with the question. :)
That's what I hope to release (working through a few minor glitches).
Glad you posted, though, I'm not 100% sure what's needed and what's not. So glad it will be of some use.
Nice! I was sort of hoping you'd finish that. As has been stated, that's one thing that we really don't have a substitute or new version for.

So glad it will be of some use.
Will it ever!!!!
It will be a huge help for us out here, especially the hero file folks. Cant wait!
Haha......man I could have used that when I started my project, but it will be a huge help whenever I get around to another one!
Welcome back Sir Alex!
I think your site is still the best site out there. With tons of info and downloads. Thanks for keeping it up and running. I am sure it is one of the reasons freedom force is still alive in the hearts of its thousands of loyal fans. :D Now that your back, I am sure all of them are eagerly awaiting any updates you might have to share. Me included. :P
No pressure though, I am still busy with some of the stuff i downloaded from your site. :) Thanks again! Nice to have you back.
Oooh, a FFVTR hero tool would be great. I'd kill just to be able to alter weight without hexing.
I must get out more!
First Dr Mike waves hello and now Alex!
Welcome back!!!
Adding a few last minute tweaks to EZHERO 3. Hopefully out soon.
Features List
- It handles FF and FFv3R hero files
- It lets you save to either format at any time
- It will batch convert a whole folder from 1 format to the other
- It will Send hero file info to DAT files for FF and FFv3R mods (EZHero2.6 did it only for FF mods)
- Has all the latest attributes in FFX, but also lets you easily add custom ones
- EZAI tool for FF AI (thx to Taskmaster for all his input on this almost 2 yrs ago)
QuoteHas all the latest attributes in FFX, but also lets you easily add custom ones
Does this include FFX 3.2? If you can add new attributes anyway, it isn't a huge deal.
Sounds excellent Alex. I can see this getting a lot of use.
Sure is good to have you back.
Looking great Alex, hopefully it will have the hero file to text file as well to make it easy to showcase our hero files here.

This will be great for those that only play FF1 but can only find FFV3R hero files and vise versa. Your a life saver!
I was getting the urge to re-install either :ff: or :ffvstr: on my computer...looks like it's a good time to do just that. This game has always had a great community, even if Irrational no longer cares about FF...they just care about selling Bioshock on the 360. Oh, how things change.
Anyway, welcome back Alex. I always checked out your website back in the day. I plan to do so again.
I just discovered that thread!
I should be more alert when I click the 'show unread posts'
Glad to see you back Alex!
Here's the big question: can it add to the strings DAT?
US - yep it still does output to text file.
yellow_lantern - hmmm never thought of that. Should be doable. How do you think it should work? Maybe I can get it in the next version.
Quick update: I have completed the work ojn ezhero 3 (including a few last minute features) and was about to set it up for download last night, but I realized i now needed to add 1 more option. So hopefully out tonight.
Nice!
This should be helpful for Liberty Bay. I was using the old EZHero to send files to .dat, then fixing the resulting problems. This should make that easier.
Oh awesome! Thanks for your hard work Alex, i think this will be the final step needed for me to start doing EZ scritping
pssst.... EZHERO 3 has been released!
Woot!
I really, really need to find my :ffvstr: disk... or get a new copy...
