Title: Odd trouble with Crisis Mod
Post by: bengal on July 17, 2007, 08:47:20 PM
I start up the mod, it begins to load the FFvTR component, and then just hangs on before the Irrational Games logo even comes up.  I think I've traced it to this mod as all my other mods run fine on the same computer.

Sorry about replying to myself, but I just had a random thought, which version of FFX does Crisis run?  Could using an older version of FFX than the mod cause this problem?

crisis uses ffx 3.1.2 (or 3.1, dont recall). You running a newer or older version of FFX for your own game doesn't matter at all. Mods are all independent of each other and can run whichever version of ffx it came with. Crisis doesnt affect anything at startup to cause a problem. The only difference between crisis (except maybe LoSH) and most mods is that it comes with a ton of meshes, somewhere in the ball park of 100 meshes + other files, so that could easily cause FF to stall if the mod was causing the problem.

So, other than letting it run on my end for a while, is there any kind of workaround I could do?  Also, does anyone know if it's causing itself to stop communicating with the computer, or if my atempting to stop it when I think it's hanging is what's causing the problem?

Ooookay... whatever was going wrong has now cleared up!  I have to say, this mod is fun thus far.  I'm currently fighting Granny Goodness, Skull, and Highfather's son Kalabak... Not sure how I failed one objective earlier in the game, but it doesn't seem to have affected anything yet.

The one failure was the part about escaping Darkseid and Thanos with Nightwing and Terry.  I lost the duo of villians somewhere on the map, but eventually got a cut scene saying I'd failed.

glad you got your problem solved. The failure is planned. Since darkseid and thanos cant be beaten at that point in the game, the only thing you can do is fail so the mission can complete itself. I think there's one more mission with a similar setup with...um...darkseid where you have to let him win.
