Title: Mbrdo's hero editor problem
Post by: Podmark on June 26, 2007, 01:36:58 AM
Some of you know I've had computer problems, so recently I've gotten all my FF stuff back in place, but I'm having a problem with Mbrdo's hero tool.

When I use it, trying to open the attributes window crashes it. I remember this used to work in the past, so does anyone have any idea what might be the problem? I'm using it for :ffvstr:

I have that problem as well, it has never worked for me with  :ffvstr: hero files when I try to open the attributes window.
It only works with  :ff: hero files.

I'm surprised we dont have a actual  :ffvstr: hero editor yet.  I know there is a unfinished one out there that Alex was working on, too bad someone cant get ahold of it and finish it up.

I figured that was it. Yeah I really wish we did have an FF2 hero tool. It would be so useful.

Taskmaster has the unfinished Beta version, if anybody wanted to see if they can finish it.

Hey I just had a thought tonight. What file(s) does Mbrdo's Hero Tool use to generate it's attributes list? I'm guessing it's either or possibly both of attributes.dat and strings.txt. Assuming they have the same file structure, I should be able to put those two files in an original FF file path (I don't have the original installed at the moment) and the Hero Tool should read them and generate the proper FF2 & FFX attributes list.

I'm going to give that a try.
