Title: New NifSkope not opening FF1 meshes?
Post by: Revenant on June 20, 2007, 04:42:55 PM
Anybody else had trouble with this?

I can open all FFvs3R and all converted meshes, but the two newest versions of NifSkope don't seem to like older meshes.

I haven't had time to download this version yet, but I think (from a brief check of the NifSkope forums) that there is an error in the xml file provided with 4.0.0.2 NIFs (FF and Morrowind). There is an fixed XML file for download on the NifTools site. I'll post a link when I get it myself, which should be in a day or two.

Thanks Symon, I'm glad there is a fix!

Ok.

Go to http://svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/niftools/trunk/docsys/nif.xml?view=log

Download the latest nif.xml by rightclicking on download and 'saving as'.

Note that the format for texturing directories is different. instead of $NIFDIR/skins/standard you should use ./skins/standard but the current version incorrectly uses the old format if you use autoconfigure.

The required file is now here:-

http://niftools.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/niftools/trunk/docsys/nif.xml?view=log

There's been some reorganization it seems.

Hmmm, in what way? It can be tricky to download it as an xml file rather than an html file if you aren't used to it (especially if you are using IE, which OF COURSE knows better than you do what it is you require), and if saved as an html file it will go horribly wrong!
