Sorry if this has already been asked, but does anybody know if a Kyle Rayner with the GL Aura exists (like JStewart, Kilowog, Jade, and possibly some other GL models have)?
I've been looking for ages, but can't find 1. It's a shame to have so many GL's with Auras but not Kyle.
ditto :P
One option is to use Renegade's Crime Syndicate 'Power Ring' mesh (from the Grant Morrison Earth 2 story, blond guy, spiky hair) You could throw a Kyle skin on him, I think he already has the cool keyframes and power battery.. You'll have to wait til his site comes back online, or see if anybody on here has it.
You could also hex one from Renegade's GL meshes, putting Kyle's spiky hair on it...
@revenant
lols, that's exactly what i did with my kyle character... hehehe... our minds think alike... hehehe...
@the nemesis
you should do exactly as revenant said, and you're kyle will look great after you hex of all unneccessary things...
Interesting. Well I have the Power Ring Model, I just have no idea how to hex models. When I get round to learning I'll give that a shot.
Is it possible for you guys to show the picture of your Kyle Rayner, if not even upload the hexed model somewhere?
Thanks.
IDK what' is possible with NIFskope BUT the aura is nothing more than the character mesh cloned, made slightly bigger and the geometry is flipped (not the mesh as a whole, the individual triangles have been flipped, the mesh remains oriented the way it was).
In 3d models, it saves memory by having a triangle or quad visible from only one side. this is fine with a lot of meshes since the other "side" is facing the interior of the mesh. So although you look at Liberty Lad from the outside and you can't see through him, if you were to put the camera inside him you would have an unobstructed view of the surroundings because his triangles and quads are only one-sided and they face out. So by flipping the triangles on an enlarged version of a character mesh, you actually see through the front layer of triangles and are looking at the ones behind the character mesh.
Remember, the nose is still in front but you'll only see it from a back angle.
I'm used to working with 3D, so if I had the Max version of Kyle Rayner I would have no difficulty making the Aura (although the difficulty would be in exporting, since I don't have an older version of Max).
I sometimes wonder that if scaling the mesh up slightly and flipping the normals was possible in Nifskope someone would have done it.
Then again, I dunno. Maybe the author of the Kyle Rayner model didn't give permission for distribution of a hex? I've never needed to hex a model b4, so I'm just not fully aware of the possibilities.
here is my two versions of kyle rayner...
this is from the original kyle rayner mesh with GL_test KF's...
and animations are ranged_5, ranged_3 and hover
(http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb170/kitbasherFF/kyle.jpg)
and this is from the hexed Power Ring mesh...
and animations are ranged_10, ranged_9 and hover
(http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb170/kitbasherFF/kylePR.jpg)
as you can see, it fits perfectly with a hexed power ring, and i am using the same skin for them both, skin is credited to C6(God of Skinning) ^_^ ... but it does have a different ring as the original one, but who can tell from afar.... hehehe... and you can see the hover glow and the lantern power... so it's just perfect...
It does look great. And also for the record. You may not be able to skope flipped triangles and such, but you can paste an aura from one mesh onto another. The only thing is, if it follows a hairstyle, you seem to be stuck with it, and it is always on unless the mesh can use an aura kf set. Small inconveniences in my book for the beauty of an aura when it's desired.
Wow the power ring mesh has really nice hair, I'm going to have to remember that.
As an alternative to pasting auras you can paste bodies in place of the mesh's original body. For example you could take Ren's Klye mesh's body and paste it in place of the Power Ring's body. The animations and aura should continue to work properly, but the aura wouldn't fit the hair properly.
Renegade did Kyle Rayner and Ink did Kyle Rayner Classic.
Ink is pretty liberal about his mesh permissions. Of course, to make Kyle with aura in max, all you need is the NIF importer from the same people that make NIFskope, male_basic, Max 3 (or 4 or 5), and the exporters from the first game.

Yep I know, for my example I was referring to "wild hair" Ren mesh. I'd probably just paste the classic into the Hal Jordan mesh.
how do you paste a certain mesh to a mesh with an aura? enlighten me pls...
I haven't done it in a few months so hopefully I've remembered this correctly, You'll need nifskope. Choose the mesh body you want to paste in, say for example Ren's Kyle Rayner. Open it in Nifskope, click on the the body in the mesh preview. In the node view on the left side right click on the highlighted area and select copy branch.
Now open a second nifskope window, and open the aura mesh you want to paste into. click the body and find it's location in the node view, then paste the first body into the same location. Then hide the aura mesh's body by right clicking and going to flags then checking hidden. Then save.
This should work, but I've probably described it poorly. My Hellion skin uses this method, and that worked fine.
Now available at my File group(see my sig)......
