Title: Playing Freedom Force on Windows XP
Post by: welldan on June 07, 2007, 06:49:35 AM
Hello,

I was just wondering if anyone has encountered the same problem. I have installed Freedom Force into my PC because I wanted to play the JLA Mod for Freedom Force. But starting the game I got a warning that Freedom Force is not compatible with my version of Windows and click on continue then the game loads and crashes. Has anyone been able to sort this out? I realize that Freedom Force may be an old game but still is a very good one that I would like to revisit. HELP!!!

thank you!!!

Your problem may be due to a conflict with Windows XP Service Pack 2.

Here is a link to a patch that will fix that for you, if that's the case:

If this doesn't fix the problem, I'm not sure what the issue is.

Good luck!

Um...FR doesn't warrant the discussion of cracks here...and welldan said it worked with the 1.3 patch alone. so...

Just to clarify...the 1.3 patch makes FF playable with SP2. It's not perfect, but atleast you can actually do stuff in game.

Yes, GGiant, you are very, very wrong in this.  I use FF on XP SP2 myself.  Before the patch, I coudn't use it.  After the patch, the game itself works perfectly.

And I definitely would discuss cracks around here.  That's strictly against the forum rules.

SP2 also causes problems with the character tool. Get rid of it.

In order for that to be even possible, your computer would have to be 3 years old or more.  All computers after that came with SP2 already installed, and there is no way to remove it if that is the case.

I put my own together and installed an older version of XP that I have.  I then downloaded SP1 and SP2.  I was able to uninstall SP2.  I was lucky I was able to.

I have SP2, and I can run everything just dandy thanks to McPatch.
Wha? Wha? Jest sayin'.
