Can someone help walk me through how to get all the wonderful skins/meshes i've downloaded off this board into the official character editor and then the game itself?

I recommend that you consult the wiki at http://frworld.wikispaces.com/ and perhaps some of the stickied threads lying around in the appropriate forums. Basically, it's just a matter of unzipping them in the right folders.
