Only this time, we have tons more genres then just classic and prog/art rock. Here, we have some alternative metal, thrash metal, indie, emo, punk, grunge, and post-hardcore. Forget classic rock here, its time to headbang for real! Just don't headbang to the emo stuff... You might hurt yourself.
In the words of Andrew W.K...

I've gone for the Chilis. Couldn't really pick another two, 'cos there was more than two bands on a sort of 'second place' level for me. The Chilis did my favourite song of all time - can't stop - so they've got my solid, concrete vote.
P.S: You forgot the Tokens.

Heh... I think I could count the ones I
have heard of on one hand...
Well I have heard of the majority, and I don't see myself as very "band conscious."
That being said, I also dislike almost all of them. But the White Stripes are on there... the White Stripes...
Yeah, I've heard of maybe a third of these bands, and have actually listened to maybe five of them. And only like one of them (the White Stripes).
But hey, classic rock is my thing. Who am I to disregard 30+ years of rock & roll? ;)
Gah! Are there no metal heads amoungst me?
*looks for UFB*
IS THIS NOT FREEDOM REBORN!? IS THIS NOT... MADNESS!?
THIS... IS... METAL!!!
Alright, 300 rant aside, keep on votin'! Even if you haven't heard of anybody... Just vote. ;)

Actually, I wouldn't consider much of this group "metal" per se...
I counted and I was familiar with 19 of them so I guess I'm doing good. :) NIN is probably my favorite of the lot, but I do like some Green Day, Tool, White Stripes and a few others.

Oooh, good bands. But I too counted, and half of the choices are some sort of metal. ;)

Truth be told, the three options that I know best and voted for (which include two that I actually admire a great deal (tool (the tool of
Opiate,
Undertow, and
Ænima) and The White Stripes)) are faring quite well, thank you very much, lad. ^_^

Some say we'll see Armageddon soon.

Freaks, your in this hole, this freaking whole you call L.A. The only way to cleanse it is to flush it all away. Any freakin' time... Any freakin' day. Learn to swim, see ya down in Arizona Bay.Gosh, Maynard-James Keenan is so cool...

I'm a bit of a music geek so I've heard at least one song from each of the groups listed. Still, the only one whose work stands up to repeated listens to me is probably the Red Hot Chili Peppers, with Nirvana, Foo Fighters, and System of A Down a distant second, third, and fourth.

Gotta agree there. No Sabbath, No 'Talicca, No Zepplin, etc. etc. etc.
No Tom Waits. Anyone heard "16 Shells From A 30-Ought Six" or "Filipino Box Spring Hog"? Whew!

Well, ya see, all those bands were in the last poll. So why would I put the same bands from last time in another poll? ;)

And where is The D? The Tenacious D?! Where, I ask ye?
Oh, well. Queens of the Stone Age, Modest Mouse, and some Foo for me.

I voted for the White Stripes, although they haven't reached "awesome"' just yet. Let me toss out Opeth for the next battle.
The Stripes' Icky Thump is due out this month (June 19).

I know... It's like, the anticipation for that album is very... high... like...
Has anyone seen the video for the song Icky Thump? Rad song, and a cool video. You can find it at Youtube.

And what do you mean by that? Have you listened to their Elephant album? Rather amazing work. Seven Nation Army, There's No Home For You Here, The Hardest Button to Button, are all album highlights, in fact the entire album is a joy to listen to... Not that I'm trying to be rude or anything, but IMO, they reached 'awesome' status awhile ago...
And when they came out with Get Behind me Satan... Man, cool stuff.
And also, I don't know what I'm gonna do for the next poll... I was thinking about the pop genre next time... But who knows, it could wind up being jazz. (Not that I know very much about that genre...) :p
