Title: Two part Statesman's Task Force
Post by: DireWolf on May 21, 2007, 09:25:01 AM
Yes, I have not yet run this one nor have I read all the stuff about how to make it work. I just want to run it with Direwolf. And, since Heros is over for now, I was hoping to set it up for two subsiquent Monday nights, starting at 5:30 or 6:00 PST (that would be 8:30 to 9:00 EST) for June 4th and June 9th. Direwolf is a 50th Invul/SS tank. Anyone else feel like coming along?

To clarify something...

June 9th is a Saturday.  Do you mean that you want to run Part I on Monday, June 4th, and Part II on Saturday, June 9th?  Or do you mean that you want to run Part II on Monday, June 11th?

That being said, I'll happily help fill out the team roster if needed.  (I've learned from experience that two Tankers is okay, but three Tankers is pushing it for the last mission.)

I can lend my blaster (level 50, sonic/devices) if needed.

A good mix of buffs, debuffs and a little TF running knowledge will get it done in 3 hours or less.

Thanks Viking, you are right (looking at the wrong part of the callender) it will be June 4th and 11th, starting at 5:30 PST both days.

Looks like two tanks and a balster so far, any other takers????

If we start at 8:00 PM CST I can bring Boogey along.

I can Bring Saint, Wicca, or Steel. Divvying it up like that is a good idea.

To make sure Zap can attend, the call will be 6:00 PST on the 4th and again on the 11th. Sound ok folks?

If it works well, maybe we can try the same timing on the 18th and 25th for LRSF... TC is about to hit 49.

This works just fine for me.

To make it completely clear for those who don't like to translate time:

6:00 PST
8:00 CST
9:00 EST

So far, it looks like we've got six people lined up for this event:
Direwolf (Inv/SS Tanker)
Frozen Northman (Ice/Axe Tanker)
Boogeyman (Warshade)
Middy's Blaster
African Dream (which AT?)
BAD's character.  (At the moment, Atomic Saint looks like he'd be really helpful!)

More Controllers or Defenders would be awesome, but ultimately we need two more to do this.  C'mon, folks!  For Direwolf!

My Fire/Kinetic Controller, Storm/Elec Defender and Regen Scrappers (Katana and DM) still need the badges. They're all available, take your choice. 9PM est is fine with me.

I could try bringing A7 again, although there'd be no guarantee that I wouldn't ahve the same connection trouble I had the last time...

Although, come to think of it, I likely wouldn't be able to make it June 11th, anyway.

TT, I am thinking your Defender is apt to be the biggest help, but I've never run this one before. Looks like we got room for one more.....

African Dream is a MA/regen by the way.

ToHit buffs and Def Debuffs are the most important in my experience. My blaster is sonic/devices. African Dream is a scrapper (Ma/SR?). That team would probably make it with a /rad or dark/ controller/defender. Me not know.

This kicks off tonight no?

The Team:

Direwolf - Inv/SS Tank
Viking - Ice/Axe Tank
African Dream - MA/Regen Scrapper
Verfall - Fire/Rad Controller
Zapow - Warshade
Middy - Sonic/Dev Blaster
Time Titan - Storm/Elec Defender
BAD Rad/Rad Defender

I'm still flexible if you guys prefer Kinectic Buffs/Defuffs over Storm.

Saint shall be there. As I said in the last go,

12 Task Forces, 4 Trials,  and  50 plus level of mayhem, and I finally am getting the hang of the toon.

Hermanos,

'Twas fun coming off the bench last night.  Question for next time: does anyone see any use in bringing Shivans to the final battles with the four AVs and LR?  We have two scrappers and two tanks, so we're a little melee heavy.  Of course, I'm fretting mostly about Ghost Widow here.  I was wondering if having Shivans at the ready would help offset our less-rangey group (I have Impale and Throw Spines, but I'm still no blaster). Would the Shivans make a difference with their ranged attacks, our would they just be stupid and move in to melee range anyway?

Also, would Warburg nukes be a good idea? I'm thinking chem burn for the -resist/-dam.

Shivans will almost certainly be useful against certain AVs, if the fight threatens to drag on indefinitely.  (I'm thinking of Captain Mako in particular.)  My past experience suggests that they should not be employed against Ghost Widow, however.  They just plod into melee range and never leave.

When we eventually face Ghost Widow, the team needs to be mindful of her Dark Regeneration ability - it's an AoE effect centered around her, so it attacks everyone in melee range.  Every target hits allows GW to be healed for a substantial amount of damage.

I'm of the opinion that GW still can be beaten, even with a melee-heavy party, if the melee types remember to occasionally back up in anticipation of Dark Regeneration going off.

OIs there any sort of clue that the dark regen is about to go off?

No visual cue - I'm just operating on the presumption that Dark Regeneration, like any power, takes time to recharge - even for an Archvillain.  It might take some trial and error to find out what that timing is, but I hypothesize that the fight could fall into a rhythm of everyone beating on her for, say, 30 seconds to a minute, and then all but one melee types backing off until she hits Dark Regeneration, and then repeating.

I agree.  Even if there is a tell-tale animation, it's probably like any other: by the time the animation begins, who it hits has already been determined.  We'll probably have to feel it out.

This problem may also be solved by making a Purple inspiration run to pocket D or SG Base just before we battle GW.  And BTW, based on the progress made last night, we may need to more sittings to complete the TF.  The last mission alone could take up to 2 hrs.

So any ideas of when we meet up again?
Title: Re: Two part Statesman's Task Force
Post by: DireWolf on June 05, 2007, 12:29:12 PM
Noted, if we need two more then we can push a week as well. And yes, loading up purples may be the best plan....

Next call is the 11th at either 6:00 or 6:30 PST.

Zap,when can you make it?
Title: Re: Two part Statesman's Task Force
Post by: Zapow on June 05, 2007, 01:55:23 PM
I can be there at 8:00PM CST any day.

About the AVs...remember that Boogey's ranged blasts do debuffing damage. I should be able float above GW and blast away.

They do -recharge. Not really helpful against AVs.

Not quite true, enough of em can make Gw's heal come back slower, and make them attack a bit slower. For a tank it can mean the difference between 2 hit death and the healer getting the heal off in time to save em.

Key words there being, "enough of them". WS slows don't stack high enough to do much once an AV's debuff resistances apply. AV powers are largely a random affair anyway (since they don't always fire them the moment they recharge), so slowing them doesn't have much of a tangible effect.

We got Snow Storm and Lingering Rad. Minus recharge should be in abundance with this group.

We also have Frozen Northman's Chilling Embrace.  So yeah - at least half the team would seem to have minus recharge in some form.

Ah, how I miss my CST days (go Cubs go!!!).....

Yes, 9:00 EST is good for me on Monday at this point.

And, to re-ask: any point to bringing Warburg nukes to the party?

Warburg nukes are helpful (Bio on the team to help with Mako, Chem on Recluse to debuff, Nuke on any tough group (Aeon clones, maybe?)) but aren't essential by any means.

A  Recommendation:

Whoever logs into the TF tonight will be the team leader.  Please make certain your slider is cranked downward.  Over the weekend we made the mistake of running the TF on 'Rugged'. The results were disastrous with several team wipes :P

A high slider setting can double the time it takes to complete any of the missions on the TF.

Just a heads-up, guys: we scheduled a family gathering for tomorrow night (a cousin from over-seas is in town), so there's a strong chance that I'll be late.  I hope to be on by 9:30, but 10:00 is a possibility.

So very sorry, but la familia calls!

For your consideration guys:

AV's:

Single pulls would be nice.

Black Scorpion - we should be able to pound with little difficulty.

Scirocco - may require a purple or blue/breakfree inspiration run if we don't arrest him fast enough, he's a sapper.

Mako may require a yellow inspiration run to counter his Uber Elude power.

Ghost Widow - will require a purple inspiration to counter her self heal. GW's heals x amount of points for every hero in melee range and we have five.

Flyer - will spawn continuously after we down it. Ignore it until it wanders into aggro range.

Lord Recluse - Tough call, may require our two tanks and our fire/Rad controller to keep him busy while the others take down the towers.

The ship and crew will also add to our damage if we pull the AV's back towards it.

A bit of advice for Mako:

1. Get as many yellows as you can - even higher tiered ones if there are any in sg base storage or for sale in WW.

2. Try to pull him to the boat so that the Longbow troops and the ship's weapons will help do damage.

3. If you don't have a full team of 8, don't even bother unless you've got absolutely wicked damage dealers.
