if you are thinking 'hey that looks like FFVTTR', you may just be right......
More news when things are a bit further along...
Sweet! Im looking forward to this one. Good thing I just re-loaded :ffvstr: on my rig.
The tentative plan is to release the last 2 missions of the mod for FF1. The mod will then pick up where it left off for the rest of its run... Someday I might convert the first 12 missions to FFVTTR, but then hell might freeze over too....
vury good, wickerman. It's good to know that you're continuing your mod. I enjoyed the first few chapters on ff1 very much, ya know. :P
Hey great news Wickerman, our friends in MS might just need some spiffy new skins to complement their change over to FF2...

Now you're teasing..... ;)
Hahaha... IF you remake it for FFVT3R and IF Caravaggio does new skins...
uhm...
wow, that would rule. I've got something nice to think about now.

To be honest i couldn't imagine anyone else doing them. I'll say it now, wickerman, if you decide to do a sequel to FFvsTTR i'll do new skins for all the characters and make it a priority.
I'm looking forward to the new chapters as well

It's official then. I'll release the last 2 missions of the FF1 stuff SAP and mission 13 on will be FFVTTR...
Great news! I've always enjoyed the Metal Storm series so this sounds like a great development.
Incidentally, and I don't mean to threadjack, but I've been having some problems with the original Metal Storm. I tried uninstalling the mod, but once I uninstall the first part (Metal Storm 3 on the basis that I should uninstall them in reverse order) I can't uninstall the rest so I deleted the folder and reinstalled but it doesn't play nice.
I was cheating my way through the first few missions when I got this warning that all might not be well...
Then I couldn't play the next mission at all because I couldn't pick a team:

Anyway, I'm only giving the details in case it helps the diagnosis. It all used to work fine for me so I presume a proper uninstall and reinstall would fix it? I presume for installing it, the various files should be installed in the order they appear on the web page.
Anyway, apologies for the threadjack; folks should now return to discussing this fine mod of Wickerman's and looking forward to what Carravaggio has in store for the look of it!
np on the jack!
I just did a clean install and it worked fine for me...
I have noticed issues if you Mission_Win() while a cutscene is still firing through ... dunno if that may have happened...
Could be. I didn't cheat during the cutscenes but I did press Esc to bypass them (I like the cutscenes its just i was trying to get to the missions I've not seen yet is all). I'll try another reinstall.
Metal Storm
Metal Storm Add-on
mschap2
ms3
But NOT patch 1.3 though? I thnik I installed that too, now that I think of it, but the site says this is inscluded in the Add-on. So I messed up there...
That might have done it - some of the later releases BROKE things patch 1.3 fixed - so don't install 1.3 if you have part 3 installed.
It seems to be behaving itself now Wickerman, except the original problem with the textureless map is back. I haven't had a chance to play anything, but I scanned the map and there don't appear to be any objects or anything on the map. Here's a bit where in the shadow map this is based on you'd see houses for example.

I found the issue...
I have the texture path wrong in ff edit. Go into metal\art\library\area_specific and find the ds_catacombs folder and copy it into freedomforce\data\art\library\area_specific and all should be fine... do the same with the desert folder or chances are that will screw up too sorry - I'll fix it all with the final release...
Good to hear it Wickerman. I guess that's part of what playtesting is all about!
One problem though, my paths are like this: Once I get into metal/art there are three directories:
levellayout
library
area_specific
i.e. area_specific is not in the library directory
In any case, when I go ino the area_specific directory there is a _textures_alpha_catacombs directory; this is a slightly different name - is it the same directory? And there's no desert directory.
you found the right one. sorry for the confusion - i was on my laptop when i posted - no ff on the laptop to check!
that file needs to be in the ff\data\art\area_specific folder (for now!)
It all looks to be working now, cheers Wickerman!
