Title: World War Hulk
Post by: Mowgli on May 04, 2007, 02:34:44 PM
I just read the first couple of issues, one was a prelude and the other was the latest Hulk comic. I know nothing but what I have been told and read in a summary about previous Hulk issues. It sounds like an okay idea for a story about him being shot into space and the whole gladiator bit. I still think the armor and tiara are silly, but I guess they wanted a different look.

I noticed in both of these issues, Doc Samson talks to Jen (She Hulk) and they have similar conversations. Neither of them makes any reference to the other conversation though. I thought that was odd. I also noticed that most of the things in the previews were flashes of something that doesn't actually happen (it's Hulk being delusional). So I am curious how this will go down and play out.

My opinion... if Hulk got that angry, you would stand a chance of stopping him with Thor, Black Bolt and the Silver Surfer (who he apparently beat in the gladiator ring... bwu-huh?), but above that... he could pretty much trash anyone he wanted to. I am curious how they will get out of this without fatalilities. The hatred he has for Reed and Tony, both of whom I really like, would mean a quick and grizzly death.

Just curious what people think and or know about what's going to happen?

Well, when Hulk beat the Surfer the Surfer was weakened by the same wormhole-thing that had weakened Hulk enough to get captured in the first place, & a power inhibitor that kept him from using his gnarly-er powers.

Since Thor's not around, & neither is the Surfer, that pretty much leaves Mr. Fantastic, Iron Man, Namor & Black Bolt to twist in the wind as it were, and with the recent characterizations of Iron Man & Mr. Fantastic, I want them to get stomped.  Hard.

A-ha, but coincidentally. Thor's return is in Previews for this summer... hmmm.  I don't know if that's in the plan or not. It would be interesting.

What I want to see is Hulk totally stomp a mudhole in ...... Sentry. This is Tony's secret weapon. If Hulk beat him down, the expression on Tony and Reed's faces would be priceless. Sad thing is, some of the new Initiative kids are gonna get hurt. Real bad.

Haven't been reading the stories, but from what I hear it sounds like the coming of Maestro isn't too far off.  Also wondering how they'd return to the status quo if Hulk starts offing people--Scarlet Witch resetting reality back to pre-HoM?

Though the Sentry's also one of the Hulk's best friends, supposedly.  Wouldn't it be funny if, upon finding out what Stark & Richards did, he sided with the Hulk?  That'd make my day.

Just curious.  What's the Hulk's mental state right now?  He doesn't seem to be in "Hulk Smash!!" mode so is Banner in charge again?

Hulk is still a separate personality, but he's not dumb.  While I don't think he's capable of Banner's intelligence, he speaks in complete sentences, and is at least at normal levels of intelligence I would say.  He is kind of a jerk though.  That's been the status quo for awhile now, at least since the mid-70s issues of the current run.
