Title: Looking for hexing pieces.
Post by: UnkoMan on April 29, 2007, 03:35:14 PM
Hey there everybody.

I'm looking for a few pieces I can hex onto a mesh. Ones that I'd be allowed to release with, also. Specifically I'd like to find a small fin, suitable to place on the back of a calf. I am also looking for something I could use for crazy gills.
Ones that look like this:

Oh... and if anybody knows how to skin convincing webbed feet, I'd be interested to hear it.

Texas Jack's abe sapian mesh has kind of a gill structure on its neck.  Tommyboy's full tv mesh has flippers.

EDIT: Another possiblity just occurred to me: mabe you could take Tommyboy's scolloped collar (or some other similar upright collar), shring it down and embedd it in the neck so only the edge of the collar forms a ridge on the neck. Could that work for you?

Actually, doc, I just played around with abe's gills and they work wonderfully. I thank you greatly for that idea.

Now, by flippers I assume you mean on the feet? Like, for swiming? It's interesting, but I'd rather just use the standard male_basic type feet, and just try to skin them. I don't want to get any big goofy feet.

As for the fins... Hey, do you happen to know where those Sharkmen are or who did them? Those'd have fins. Hmm...

EDIT: Oh wait, duh! Tommyboy's Aquaman. Obviously!
REEDIT: Actually, I'm having a heckuva time getting those in position, so I'll still look out.
FINALEDITISWEAR: Actually... the mesh I'm using already had something neat hidden on it. So I guess I'll just mess with that. Ha ha!

Alright. Trudging this older post up. Why bother starting a new one.

Basically, I am looking for... a pony tail. That's it. Specifically, I'd like to make this:

For the body I'll just use male_suit2, obviously. It's the standard (or should be) for guys in suits. But I need to get that pony tail.

I think you'd best be served just using the standard female_longhair ponytail. As a hex-able mesh piece, I think it can be found In TexasJack's Ripclaw mesh, or you could try looking at the various hairstyles in Vertex's vxfemale and vxfemale2 meshes. I don't think there's a ponytail that actually drapes around to the front of the body though, which is just as well since you'd probably encounter a lot of clipping with the mesh in motion.

That's actually a good idea... So I tried it. Unfourtunately Ripclaw's mesh version differs, or whatever that error is. In any event, it was a no go. And I guess I can't hex it off of female_longhair. I will check into some of vertex's meshes though. I don't think it needs to go in front of the chest, either. And you're right about clipping issues.

Anyhow, thanks.

There's the male_ponytail mesh by Meink, over at the Freedom Force mesh 4 (http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Freedomforcemesh4/?yguid=133835816) Yahoo group.

Oh wait, nevermind. I just convert the other mesh. Duh!

Thanks for the help fellas.
