Title: Project: Dalek
Post by: Doctor TOC on April 29, 2007, 03:13:00 AM
Okay, here's the background; I'm a complete and total newbie when it comes to meshing and skinning. I'm also as poor as a church mouse right now, so the only modeling package I've got is Blender, and I don't have Photoshop for skinning. I'm hoping to create an accurate Dalek mesh. For those who don't know, a Dalek is a man-sized cyborg tank driven by a evil, psychotic alien blob, as seen in the BBC TV series Doctor Who. You can see what they look like here; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalek (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalek)

Anyway, I need pointers to any tutorials, help files or utilities that will help me make this mesh. The basic shape is relatively simple compared to the majority of meshes out there, but it's hard to get right. Since I'm an utter newbie at this, I thought I'd use this thread to collect helpful advice and post my progress as a sort of "how to do things the long way around" for those who come after me.

Any and all help will be very gratefully accepted.

Cheers all,

Doctor TOC

There's already a Dalek although it's fairly bare-bones.

Buy a copy of 3ds max 5 for dummies with the cd. Then, well, use your imagination.  ;)
