Title: A very noob-ish GW question...
Post by: The Pwime on April 14, 2007, 08:19:34 PM
Well, I bought factions today, and just now I installed it.  However, Factions comes in a very different type of box than the first Guild Wars game, and since the disk is not located in a jewel case...that means that the CD Key isn't, either.

What I'm saying is, I have no freaking clue where to find my CD key, and I'm actually wondering if mine even came with one...  :banghead:

the cd key is on the back of a plastic card that resembles a credit card that should be glued to a pamphlet. you have to scratch off the lottery ticket like strip from the back of the plastic card to reveal your reg-key.
see you in Cantha!

...goddamnit, why don't I have it!?  :o

I swear, I think I'm cursed when it comes to Guild Wars... when I bought prophecies the first time, one of the disks was horribly mutilated and wouldn't work.  Now, I buy factions, and I don't even get my CD key!?

Alright, I took the game back and exchanged it for another one, which actually has the access key.

NOW you'll be seeing me in Cantha!  ;)

Cool, many people didn't like Factions as much as the other two, but I liked it a lot so have fun Pwime. :)

How is Nightfall, by the way?  I was reading about it, but the Dervish didn't really do anything for me...

personally, in terms of visuals, style and storyline, i feel Nightfall has the others beat hands down. while i quite like the story of prophecies, i find Nightfall to be easier to follow, and not many games have such a lush and unique setting (based on african/egyptian visuals for the most part).
And since you have the other games, even if you don't like the dervish (weirdo, how could you not like them? Dervish are the goods :) ) just think of it as a huge expansion, another country to take your other characters to from Cantha or Kryta. plus you can make one of the core classes in NF and take them thru it from the beginning anyway. the game is a lot more than just two new classes, thankfully.

mending ftw!!!

erm i mean......hmmm im really not comfortable with lying to that degree....

hmm, strange how everyone only acts like there is one new prof in elona.....

as for nightfall, the dervish are a fun class....pure and simple nothing complicated there
paragons (thats the other class btw....) well my little paragon is only lvl 16 and has only just ventured other to the mainland and is getting neglected. from what ive played with her, shes quite fun - needs more thought that the dervish really but meh :P

the story is good, and the scenery is really impressive, i LOVE vabbi, its all pretty :)

ive been running dervish/elem - with mystism, sycthe mastery and earth magic for extra defense and extra enchants
my paragon is part warrioir but i woldnt be suprised if that ends up changing when she gets some attention..

the heroes are a great addition to it, customizable hench who stay put when you tell them too

im currently running around and having fun in tyria and cantha aswwell as a strole in elona with my newly created assassin (my old one was too ugly)  with her body gaurd, Raven, who keeps the big scary whammos away :P

*the only thing a whammo is good for........corpses :P*

Eek, forgot about the Paragons...

...in fact, I can't even remember what they are.  Anyone want to explain exactly what they do/look like?

they throw spears...and look shiny and kinda girly...
they use shouts and auras to enhance the party in combat, i believe, although i've not used mine much yet.
seems like a better armoured, ranged priest with lil to no healing to me.

heh heh heh

if you build your paragon to sync in with your heroes / team... paragons are overpowered, paragons have some of the best buffs, some of the best debuffs, great energy, strong attacks, and can cause huge conditions, the games 2nd highest armour level, 1 handed main weapon so they han use shields or focus items, and some pretty nice heals actually

But they wear SKIRTS!

when nightfall came out, I took a paragon through the entire story, with sidequests for fun, using only hench and heroes within 5 days of release ^_^

So I gather it's fun? I got a little bored with GW but I might give Hard Mode a shot.

Monster ai has been LOWERED
Monsters run away from aoe LESS

so 1, it's now a hell of a lot EASIER to kill monsters.
Items drop, EXACTLY the same way they always have, the scaling of drops only applies IN GROUPS

Oh teh noes! This thread inspired me to buy Nightfall and play GW again :P

This time I'm doing the right thing and not trying to play 2 MMO's at the same time. It doesn't work

I've never been busier and yet, somehow, I'm finding the time to play six hours a night. Very odd. Finally got my dervish and ranger through nightfall! WOOT!

...Now to get the other 6 through *whimper

You have a dervish? I must really be out of the game. Well, it's either that or my memory is failing.
