Found it on Digg, good promising stuff, especially now that Tom Cruise is NOT involved.

Can someone summarize the high points for those of us not able to access the link at work?

"Seriosly guys... I can make this movie! Look at 300! That's me being faithful, so you know I will try to be faithful to this film".

That's the short version I guess.

Beyond that he makes one great point: it is set in the 80's. None of that "let's udpate Watchmen for the war on terror" junk.

Those are both good signs. 300 had a very Frank Miller feel to it and, in instances where it would have been easy to inject commentary on current events, Snyder stuck to the same style of action and dialog he used throughout the movie.

I still think Watchmen is a very challenging project to put on film (or data tapes) just due to the nature of the storytelling, but I am keeping an open mind about it. We'll see how things hold up as the project gets closer to theaters. One thing I have noticed about some reviews on comic book-derived movies is that the reviewer often seems not to have read the comic. Of course, that's fine for most viewers in the general public, but it doesn't provide much of a predictor for how most people on this board would react to the movie.

I really hope that Watchmen is greenlighted, especially due to the success of 300. Zack Snyder would be good for it, considering what he managed to do with 300. He seems really excited about the project and his plans sound good. Why not give it a shot? I'm pleased that he plans to make it with an R rating, because frankly (as Snyder said), I'm not sure how you could tell the story without an R rating. It's really quite a dark story with graphic content.

Still, it's my favorite book (I have the soft cover trade), and it would probably be my favorite movie.

Cool. Most of the links from that fanfilm are also interesting. I even liked the "How to Draw Dr. Manhattan" video. :)
