Yeah, Newsarama finally let the comic public get a peak at the patriotic costume that Punisher will temporarily dawn in the wake of old winghead. Is it the official costume or just a misleading decoy?
While I'm definitly getting a 90s vibe from the outfit I was curious to see what everyone here at FR had to say about it.
And who might be crazy enough to skin the thing..

aww jaysis...
Yeah, totally 90's, actually very Image comics. Its sad too, Frank Castle heads one of my favorite books (punisher MAX) and Im willing to bet 5 - 1 he wont be wearing the costume in that comic. Can you imagine? All real crime and foul mouthed and the punisher walking around dressed like he's cable or something?
eeeewwwwww
yeah that sucks.
i'm pretty sure i read that marvel max punisher is the 60 year old 'Nam vet we know and love, and he is now seperate from the 616 punisher, who is closer to the movie punisher, so that marvel can get aroung the tricky problem of age. so the max punisher will not likely be wearing this abomination to the senses any time soon.
Ok, I apparently am the minority here. I love that costume. Bet your bottom, I'll have something like that in COX.
It makes me think of a superpowered enforcer for a communist dictatorship.
Take that as you will.
Looks like Frank is on roids. Is that really supposed to be patriotic?
Whoever designed that mess should be banished from the comic book industry.
Whatever is happening with Frank I'm still sure it will only be a short term storyline and not a 'permanent' thing.
I think the design looks allright.
Somehow I don't see Garth Ennis running with that idea in Punisher MAX....
Terrible.
hmmm love to know what the hell the thinking was, when the designer came up with that, yikes
what makes it worse he's now the new cap
http://www.marvel.com/news/comicstories.889
At least he isn't wearing the traditional red, white and blues.
I could possibly like this one a little.
EDIT: Scratch that, looked at it again. Nah, it's garbage.
I saw that the other day.
That is a terrible design. Just plain awful.

What's worse is I saw it coming after they showed him picking up Cap's shield.
Nevermind the costume absurdity, Frank Castle as the new Cap? BS.
Ugh. That. Is. UGLY.
If anything this is proof that Steve will be back. It's just too hard to swallow as a legacy for Cap as well as the Punisher.
Actually, upon this not-so startling revelation, I can't repeat most of my thoughts because they're either very political or full of analogies not fit for family reading.
Wow, the Punisher got fat.

Wow, the Punisher got fat.
It's all of the badguys he eats for breakfast.
What?
Has this been officially confirmed? I'm thinking it might be a red herring of some sort, the same way Marvel previewed a red, white, and blue coloured Iron Man a couple of months back.

I believe that he dawns a new costume at the end of the next issue... War Journal #5 just had the aftermath of the whole Civil War affair with Frank's jaw hanging open at what was being shown on the jumbotron TV in front of him. He is pushed too far by the criminals running amok under "federal protection" when a few try to pull Frank's own version of justice on himself. That's all that I can figure out from the teasers in various magazines.

I guess Frank is pushed SO far of the edge that Criminals and killers are being rewarded with Federal jobs that he completely loses all of his fashion sense.
Icky......
...was this a Liefeld creation?
