Title: Online time...
Post by: konbiz on March 03, 2007, 08:48:32 PM
Well I have just looked at my online time and it reads as follows...

March 03, 2007, 08:45:28 PM
Total time logged in: 3 days, 1 hours and 48 minutes.

Not only did this remind of my World of Warcraft days and how my playing time was seriously too much, very much so like the worrying amount of time I've already put into Freedom Reborn. It also got me wondering how long has everyone else been online FR in total, especially some of the longer running members. So guys post how long you have been inside FR hehe. It should be interesting.

Well, I've apparently logged in a total of 2 days, 4 hours and 20 minutes, but when we went to Quattro all of our old stats got deleted.  I've been here for just over 4 years, and I know I've logged a whole lot more time than that.

I have been here since the Electric Freedom days, but only recently got active in the community. I actually posted on an avatar called kony1 for a little while but I hated the name and for a variety of other reasons I stopped using it. Since then I have matured (I like to think  :D), but I honestly think this is one of the best online communities out there.

Agreed, this community is pretty freaking awesome.  Nowhere else online have the people been as friendly to each other as over here.

Oh, hey, I remember Kony1.

Of course, I've been here only slightly less time (overall) than Spud and Glitchy.

Ha, I've the best so far. I've been online for 4 days and 19 minutes.

Anyone else got higher?

But she's here, too, so there's some overlap.  :P

BTW, we're all pikers compared to tommyboy!

See the stats page (http://freedomreborn.net/archive/index.php?action=stats).

(As an aside, there is something odd in the way such numbers are calculated by the baord software. For instance, it is possible to have a "Last Edit" tag on one's post that is later than one's "Last Active" time...)

Interesting stats - like King-Be's post count.  Still fifth over all, and in the year-and-a-half I've been around he really hasn't been all that active.  Must have been a posting fiend "back in the day."

And time on line is only one way to measure time wasted.  I will check in at least 10 times a day.

Tommy admitted before most of his time is where he leaves FR on in the background :P

quick tip: IE clocks all your hours here, Firefox only clocks the time you spend clicking

I think how it works is something like this: Every time you click (e.g. to see a thread or forum), the board software counts off an event at that time and assumes the event will take a certain amount of time to complete (reading the thread or whatever). If more than that amount of time goes by without another event starting (you click on something else) the board assumes you are done for now and just adds that event's time to your total. If you click again before the time is up, it adds the time between the two events and starts over for the new one.

I have no idea why this would be different for IE and Firefox. Maybe IE has an autorefresh setting that the board software counts as an event.

BTW, only certain clicks count as an event, either by design or because the programmers forgot about them. For instance, the edit-inline ((http://freedomreborn.net/simple/Themes/dilbermc/images/icons/modify_inline.gif)) feature doesn't seem to reset the event clock.

Yeah, it must be something like that.  I have IE and FR is usually up in the background while I'm at work and it certainly isn't counting all that time.  My listed time is a measley 2 days 15 hours; this would be vastly higher if it was counting just time logged in.

I'm amazed I'm still in third place for total posts.  It's been a while since I really spent time here like I used to (tho I am still here multiple times every day).  Dang, I used to post a lot.
