Title: new stuff!
Post by: blobula on February 26, 2007, 06:18:02 AM
Ok, you haven't seen me much lately but here's some stuff I've been working on:

Will-O'-The-Wisp, a Spidey villain:

Mentallo:

Reverend Styge, the "sin-eater":
Thanks goes to Ultimate Evil for his great suit base and to C6 (of course) for the base skin.

Humbug, a goofy character from Heroes for Hire:

Tower, of the Alliance of Evil:

ccol stuff Blobula,  i love your takes on the obscure villains,  humbugs a surprise for sure!
will o' the wisp is cool... definately asking for a wooping from spidey after whats been happening in "friendly neighborhood"
i dont know who mentallo and the Rev are, but they really stand out.   i hate it when a skin is soo much cooler than the character ever was!

You found a use for an Ambush Bug mesh! YES!! Great job all around. The thick blue glimmer linme on Menatllo's visor is bugging me a little. Maybe a little blurring will clear it up.

Very very nice. As I said i9n another thread that Tower looks great. As do all the others. But I especially like will-o-the-wisp.

Hey man, REALLY nice work.  I especially love the look of that Reverend fellow, he has a very distinct face, and you did such nice detail work on his costume....well, you are certainly producing some great art here.

Thanks for the compliments and critiques, guys!

Hitman: I agree about the blue on Mentallo's visor. I'll see what I can change there.

Herodad1: I just sent you a PM.

Nice costume pinky. Har har har...
But for real... nice skins. You could use some shadow where the hair falls on the face, though. Also a bit for the eyepatch and Humbug's goggles... And Mento's visor was mentioned. Other than that, great job. Styge does look rad.

PS: Where did you get those wonderful fonts? Specifically Styge and Humbug. You didn't... make them, did you?

Wow, Styge is awesome.  I've got the Ghost Rider comic where he gets his eye ripped out...and having seen him on paper, I can say that your skin DEFINITELY does him justice.  'Tis awesome work.

Top notch Blobula!  I love the Hum-bug, he is so lame he is cool, great skin!   Your Tower and Will-O are clean and sharp, and the Rev is the best, I'm gonna have to really research this character so I can get him in the game!

No, no, I downloaded them at dafont.com.:) The font used for Styge is called "Shaun of the Dead".

Ok, this is something I have been working on the last few days, The Swarm, an enemy of Spider-Man.

Feedback as always is most welcome.

dumb question but ... do the bees 'move around' ie is the skin animated?
Title: Re: Blobula's Bad Boys - Bzzzz
Post by: Xenolith on March 09, 2007, 06:47:44 PM
The animated skin idea is very good and I'd guess could be done fairly easily.  Great skin, Blobula.  You really do a great job.
Title: Re: Blobula's Bad Boys - Bzzzz
Post by: USAgent on March 09, 2007, 08:19:38 PM
Lookin good Blobula,  another alternative to a animated skin is to give the mesh FX like human torch's fire but make it a more sporatic "bee" look.

You guys have some very interesting ideas but... how am I supposed to do that ?? It just seems way too complicated for me. :D
Title: Re: Blobula's Bad Boys - Bzzzz
Post by: UnkoMan on March 10, 2007, 02:50:06 PM
Actually, didn't somebody once make a hex that had him moving all about? Based on the kingdom come Flash mesh or something...

If you could get your skin on that, it would probably be pretty sweet looking. Assuming somebody else knows what the heck I am talking about.

I didn't had the intention to release it, but some people asked for it. So here it is - Swarm.

You could use Taskmaster FX by Texas Jack, Ithink its at one of his yahoo groups.  Or you can pick it up in Zuludelta's Wildstorm Cabal pack - its the mesh he used for Hellspont (?) the WildCATS badguy.

That bee effect is top notch! Nice work there, the texture of the skin is simply fantastic!

And I'm glad you decided to release it. I can't get enough of these characters, often overlooked, but interesting to play with in FF, anyway.

Ok, here's another bunch of C-grade characters that nobody else cares about.

Slyde, the teflon coated bank robber. I'm not sure if I should keep the ears..

Orka the Killer Whale, from Heroes for Hire.

The new Viper, from the new Serpent Squad.

The old Eel, from the new Serpent Squad. :)

Cutthroat, former member of the Skeleton Crew.

More to come..

Cool skins!   Slyde is one of my favorite 2nd rate villians, and now I have a great skin for him, but I would loose the ears though. They are all great but I really like Cutthroat and the new Viper.

Hey, I care about C-grade villains!

I've actually been looking for these guys (even Slyde!), but I'm particularly stoked about that excellent Cutthroat. I always liked that character for some reason.

Any clues as to what other characters you're working on?

What hair is that on Will-o-the-wisp and Tower? It would be very useful for me.

Hey, Slyde is one of my favorite Marvel villains too! A very cool character, but so underused. He's been killed, like, 3 times already.

As for skins currently in the works, I am currently working on Brother Voodoo, Lorelei, Misty Knight, Black Tarantula, Typeface, Chamber and American Eagle.

Podmark: Look for Ink's Joseph mesh.

Thanks for all the kind comments everyone!

Yes. American Eagle will be ready sometime soon (he's # 2 on my list). Here is a preview pic.

I still have to work on the helmet a little more.

I would still like to do a Steel Spider skin to go along with it but there is no suitable mesh for him. :(

American Eagle is looking good!

re: Steel Spider, I think the closest you're going to get with a mesh is Tommy's Iron Spider http://tommyboymeshes.freedomforceforever.com/Marvel%20meshes%20S2.html

Although I'd like to see him with the Doc Ock mesh animations, I think Doc is probably a little too fat to use.

The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants? They were one of the greatest super-villain teams of all time! I especially like the original line-up.

From left to right: Unus (skin by Me), Quicksilver (Spring Heeled Jack), Toad (IPS), Vanisher (JKCarrier), Blob (C6), Magneto (C6), Mastermind (Ink) and Lorelei (Me).

Oops, I think I forgot the Scarlet Witch. :banghead:

These are the skins that I use for the rest of the team:

Thumbelina (Megansunfire), Tempo (Podmark), Wildside and Strobe (Archangel33). They are all very good in my opinion. I might skin Zero or Locus eventually.

Forearm, Kamikaze and Brute are now available for download.

I love the MLF and your skins are great.

I'm stoked for a Locus skin. Would you ever be tempted into doing a Dragoness?

EDIT: Just putting my Zero skin (using C6 base) out there. If anyone wants it, just private me and I'll send it.

I got a Dragoness skin awhile back that was done by Sceptre on the fv_dracona_notail mesh. I could send it to anyone that PM's me. But I'd also like to see Blobula's version of Dragoness :)

As always, Blobula, great stuff! I love this thread!

EDIT: Better yet, you can download the dragoness skin here, at Sceptre's Yahoo Group:

Is anyone having trouble with the Kamikaze skin? It seems to be light blue.

Congratulations for your first skin, Paradox. I hope it won't be the last one. :)

I've repacked and reuploaded the zip file. It should work fine now. (Thanks USAgent)

I love me some MLF. Something about Zero is bothering me, though. Have you tried a thicker circle on his face?

That was my skin, not Blobula's, so all blame should be directed at me. ;)

With that said, it was my very first skin! Lay off me! (Teasing!) Actually, I'll revise it to make it more authentic and then put it in my Yahoo group.

So Blobula, have you thought about doing the rest of the MLF? I'd be stoked to get the whole crew together using most of your skins. Any luck with Miguel's skopes also?

I'd like to do Locus one day, but I've got a bunch of other projects to take care of now. But if you want to skin them, please go ahead! :)

Jack Flag- Blobula has him in the works

4 months later...

Not completely happy with the mask so I may change it before release.

As for American Eagle, he's not ready... yet. :)

Impressive as always!

You should send Johnny Patches a PM if you need a hand with American Eagle's helmet-shape /  jacket ... or that Spidery guy ....

I'm not familiar with the character, but the skin itself is impressive.

This old Nova villain was requested in the Obscure Villains forum a while back.

Megaman
(http://img234.imageshack.us/img234/6012/megamanvp3.jpg)

Definately not my best work... it was done in 45 minutes or so.

That Megaman as simple as a design as it is looks just like that rare appearance he was in, nice work.  And that Flag looks really good, That face mask does look a little funny, but that is probably the closest looking mask you can get to match his look, way to keep alive these Thunderbolt characters!

Well... it has been a while. Here are a couple of skins I've managed to finish up:

Another Nova villain: the Condor.

This is Steel Spider... before he got his arm eaten off. :)

Johnny Patches did the skope. We have to get the ok from The Beyonder to release it.

American Eagle as he appeared in Thunderbolts.

I'm glad you and Johnny Patches got together on that character. He is looking too cool

Fantastic skins Blobula and awsome choice of characters, I never thought the Steel Spider would ever be skinned, let alone a new version of American Eagle.  I loved their stories in the T-bolts.
Also I have been sitting on a old Condor skin for a long time, thanks for doing a updated and great looking skin of him too.

Blobula, you are the man!

Did you skope American Eagle yourself? The helmet looks great.

JP can do no wrong with skopes and your skin for the Steel Spider is insane.

I don't know who Condor is but I have to download that skin.

Please tell me you're going to do Shadowoman too! (Or Sepulchre, or whatever her name is now).

Thanks guys.

American Eagle is a simple tom_versatile hex. I couldn't find a way to add refl to the visor though.

Like you, I really enjoyed this character when he appeared in the "Faith in Monsters" arc of the Thunderbolts. He's my hero now!

And yeah, Sepulchre is on my list. :)
