Some of you may have experienced less than satisfactory results sending or receiving skins or meshes through Hotmail, thanks to it's virus filter. After some checking with various meshes & skins, I think I may finally have a definitive answer as to what file(s) Hotmail's filters have a problem with. The _glow.tga and _refl.tga both seem to trigger this automatic rejection. I've tried it with old and newer skins & meshes, as well as changing file names and types. No luck. What makes these particular files any different from other tga's is a bit of a mystery to me (I'm sure someone who is highly proficient with the mysteries of Photoshop will be able to answer that question).
If a Mod could sticky this, I think it would be very useful to others.
I have sent a complaint email to Hotmail's support department and they replied with a personal message pretty fast (not a bot-reply). I gave them access to my account, so I think they are going to have a look at the attachment and maybe improve their virus detection to exclude these files.
As soon as I have any news I will post it here. For the time being my account is unreachable, so please do not send anything to it.
PS: Something did pop into my mind just now; would a virus scanner still be able to scan the contents of a ZIP file when you password-protect it? Might be worth a try.
personally i'd just get a gmail invite :P

That's just because you're anti-social and part of the problem, not willing to *fix* the problem. :P
I scanned the unzipped files for viruses with two different sets of softwares. I make sure I scan everything before I send it out. I'm thinking it must be your hotmail account.
i thought it was common knowldege that Hotmail just didnt accept zips with .nifs or kfs in em.... take up syn's solution, get gmail.

Nope, I just sent a full mesh (with kf's, nifs, and tga's.....just not any glow or refl) from one Hotmail account to another, without even so much as a hiccup.
I don't think it's an issue of a corrupt/infected file so much as it is *something* in those types of tga's that their software is hitting on. False positives aren't that uncommon. My Adaware program used to hit on the comet FX just because there was a well known adware program that was called Comet.
