Title: Supes?
Post by: Dr.Volt on February 11, 2007, 05:55:49 PM
Ok, sorry if this has come up before....but would anyone be willing to share their Superman hero files (modern, say from Superman Returns...not golden age or silver age)?

I know Supes is one of the most commonly known superheros of all time (and so are his powers).  But, there are nuances that I am interested in.  For example, how did you reflect his super breath (freezing w/ area effect?).  Or what about his heat vision?  Any mental powers resistance?

Just curious...thanks!

Howdy Dr. Volt, I'd be happy to share mine, but are you looking for FF1 or FF2 versions?

Without going into too much detail now, I don't think the Superman from Superman Returns is a "modern" version of the character.  Because the movie is essentially a sequel to a pre-crisis character(I think...) and because he does things uncharacteristic of what Superman does these days(breathe in space, have children with Lois), I wouldn't use this model as something to follow.  I guess it would mean, in game, a change in strength levels and speed and a few other variables depending on the file of course.

When does he breath in space in Superman Returns?  I don't remember that, as he only spends a handful of minutes actually in space, and even modern Superman can hold his breath for a really long time.  I would say Superman Returns features a very consistant modern Superman - he has his core powers, but nothing stupid like turning back time, making people forget things by kissing them, or saran wrap capture S-shields throwing.

If you're looking for the modern version...well, I might be able to help.

I was of the school of using the materials on my invulnerable characters, but I think I'm shifting more and more of just working with invulnerability.  It makes it much easier to manage, and a LOT easier to balance, because you aren't thinking...well, he does 30 points of damage with that point, but will that get past Supes resistance AND his invulnerability?  Anyroad, here is my FF2 file, but you can basically use the same thing for FF1, just make the cone attacks beam attacks:

Fascinating!  Thanks for putting that together and sharing it, Benton.
