Not really a request for a skin or mesh, more in the line of scripting/ maps.

Sometimes I would just like to open the game up, grab a classic hero like Spider-man or Superman, and just go on patrol. I'd like to have a couple of basic maps like the 1st level of FF with some low level guys - muggers, crooks, bank robbers scattered about just to go around and clobber them.  Just something for fun and seeing the hero in action in game.

Also maybe have the choice for more than 1 hero - Superman by himself, Batman and Robin, etc.

Its been a while since I've played, but if i remember with the Danger room, they just come running at you from wherever they are. I'd like them to stay in place or perhaps have a little wander area.

Thanks RD

There should be a New York map.

Howdy RD, that is very easy to do with EZScript.  You can set up any number of maps to work with any number of simple patrol missions like that.  In fact, FFX comes with just such a mission set in WWII, which you can use as a model.  Check out my tutorial on EZScript, and I'll be putting one up for mapping in the next week or two:

Check out the example EZScript adventures in your FFX/Stories directory.  "Onpatrol" is exactly what you've described.  You could take that one, add or change out encounters and threats, and then set up the maps you want to be able to use with them, and you can have a whole set of patrol options.

Thanks Benton. I'll have to look around. At this point in time, its been so long since I've done anything with the game I'm back at Beginner level and head scratching mode.

BentonGrey

It's super easy.  If you want to hop on Discord some time, I can walk you through it.

Hey Benton...

Looking things up, is EZscript only for FFvTR ? Was looking more for patrol missions for original FF.

BentonGrey

Ah, okay, yeah, EZScript is just for  :ffvstr:.  I'm afraid I can't help you with  :ff:.  Sorry man!

Looking around at a few things and getting the feel of how the game works for modding. In answer to a question somewhere else; Each level has some python files for scripting how specific things work for that level. For FF, there's a section at the bottom for cutscenes.

Tinkering with this or deleting some lines should remove the opening cutscene.

It also looks like some of the static cutscenes might be textures assigned to a simple 'billboard' panel nif. Assigning a new texture could alter it to your mod. You could also rename the original mp3's that the level starts with to something else and use your own with the original names to change the narration.

Indeed, the level loading screens, opening movie, and such, are all one or a series of 'billboards', as you say, with a texture that gets put on them.  You'll find those in Art/Library/Interface scenes in both games.  You can also make new ones by creating new entries in the Resources tab of FFEdit.
