So I just actually played the Suicide Squad mod for the first time, finally.  I am glad I did, why it took so long I don't know.  But that got me interested in the Squad now. So I have been reading the original Squad's comics back issues and now I wanna get them characters in the game.  But I would like some help and ideas on setting up hero files for these characters (using mostly LP's and JP's newer skins/skopes) I know some of you DC hard cores will have better ideas for me hopefully.  I'll post a couple at a time to get some input on them instead of posting them all at once.

Shade's M-Vest could take the shape of an opponents greatest fear. He was also super-strong with the vest ... like, as a strong as a New God.

So I'd up the strength and give him a fear-causing attribute.

Rick Flag was probably just below Batman / Bronze Tiger level re: hand-to-hand. I'd also give him a leadership attribute, as well as a mental weakness attribute (nervous breakdowns, brainwashing). Other than that, he was a peak-ability soldier.

Writer John Ostrander also gave him a heap of other attributes / super powers recently, but they're probably not relevant...

He already has the Presence attribute, and I havn't seen him use any acts of super strength in the comics yet, nor can I find any info online about him having super strength, do you know where you got that from Jake? And what should his strength be set at do you think?

I think your Rick Flag is on point, and I agree with Jake when it comes to him being Weak Minded (Flag is a mental wreck) and a leadership attribute. Maybe give him one more Nimble? He fought Batman to a near standstill, which is a surprising feat, so his agility should be top notch.

Now Shade.. whom I have to make a skin for!.. was always a confusing character to me. I would have said Shade had super strength as well but now that I'm thinking about it, I can't think of a situation where he's exhibited it. However, he has used his M-Vest force field to attack others with a high intensity. He gave Lashina the smack down with his powers in the Suicide Squad, and she's pretty strong to begin with. So while he may not have super strength, per se, he does have high powered punches, thanks to the vest. I'd make it a medium/high-powered attack with medium/high knockback.

One thing I really liked about Rick Flag in the SS mod was that he had a few missions where he would "run out of ammo" and have to drop down to a lesser gun.  I model that in more real-time with energy tanks, so that he only has a certain amount of ammo on a mission before he's down to his knife and fists.

Thanks for the replies guys, I updated the hero files accordingly.  Benton, that was a good idea they had with Flag running out of ammo when he had a big gun, then resorting to smaller pistols after using up ammo.  I personally don't wanna use the energy tanks with Flag though mainly because I have his melee combo using low energy and that would mean that he wouldnt be able to use his combo anymore, plus I like to give my characters with guns a zero energy single pistol low damage shot kinda like Blackjack and Tombstone has in FFV3R (But theirs are 3 shots).
I upped his agility, gave him "weak minded", "Coordinator", and gave him a low damage knife attack.

For Shade I gave him a "vest" enhanced attack (I didnt know what to call it) With 15 damage and high KB, but I don't think knockback works if the strength is below a certain number.

Any more help with Shade would be appreciated unless he looks good now.  Should he have heavy lifter or something?  Would his vest help him pick up things and throw things?

Next up is Nemisis, he seems to be a good fighter and his main ability is disguise, and other than the "dsguise" attribute I don't know how else to represent that.

I don't remember seeing him use a "concussion gun" but I read a couple times that he uses one so I game him one.

Good idea Jake, I'll look for a attribute like that, I'll probably end up with another hero point for him though.

Black Orchid- here is another character I am not to sure about, I know she is bullet proof along with invunerability to some extent, plus is kinda strong and can fly, but I read in my research that she can hypnotise people along with changing her appearance. Is that right?

People with a disguise attribute are difficult to pull off in this kind of game. Nemesis, Mystique, whomever.. it's always hard to mimic that in the game. I may be mistaken, but I think Nemesis also uses a regular gun, so maybe a piercing ranged to mimic an actual bullet?

Captain Boomerang should be exactly as you have it, that's perfect.

Black Orchid looks really good, too, so I'm not sure what other suggestions I could offer to change her up.

Wait a moment.. most times that I've seen, especially in the Rumble Room, the AI-controlled characters don't attack civilians.. only the police officers embedded on the map. What if you have Shapeshift, instead of Disguise, and have them shapeshift into an in-game civilian character. You can tweak the m25ai file so that they would shapeshift only at a certain distance away from their foe, but it would be more lax than disguise....

I think I'd like to know what feature of the in-game civilian makes it so that the AI-controlled characters don't attack and then go from there.

I think it's the other way around LP.  It's the villain AI choice that decides if they kill civilians or not.  A few have that as a natural kill goal; most do not and therefore won't attack unless the script has told them to go after that class.  All villain AI types are naturally hostile to all heroes, and I believe police, which is why you're seeing the difference.

In the Suicide Squad comic, Nemesis was basically a good fighter with regular weapons (usually a pistol, but I believe he had a machine gun when the Female Furies attacked to bust Godfrey out -- would have to confirm my recollection).  His Who's Who entry talks about the ice bullets that paralyze and a concussion gun that can blow holes in metal, but I never saw either.  I'm assuming they're from his original appearances in the Brave and the Bold but it's been forever since I read those.

I have updated most of the hero files from this mod back when I received permission to update the whole mod, which I never got around to finishing.  But it was still for FF1, just with newer art and characters, so I don't know that I can help you much on your designs.  Overall however, it sounds like you're doing well on the files.

Ok, I gave him a pistol shot (single shot, low damage, no energy) since it looks like he carries a regular gun as well.  I read about the ice bullets too RMT but since they would be about the same as the tranquilizers I stuck with the tranquilizers. 
Also, too bad you didn't get that update to the SS mod done, the first one was one of the bests mods out there but with dated meshes/skins/and abilities.
LP I think the Disguise attribute sounds like what your describing (it can be only activated at a certain distance from enemies) except I am not sure that the AI will tell a character to use the disguise ability on its own.

I have read that while she was the Dutchess her weapon was a energy type gun, but from what I saw it looks like she just use a heavy machine gun that sprays bullets everywhere. So I gave her a piercing machine gun type attack.  I know there are some more attributes out there to match her crazed vicious type of personality.

Duchess used a "mega-gun" that she built herself.  It was never clear to me exactly what the ammunition was but I would have presumed some sort of explosive shell rather than energy.  Duchess appeared much tougher and stronger than when she was Lashina -- for example, ripping the tail off of Manticore II.  I never got the impression that Lashina was THAT strong, so I think your rating is decent.

On updating the SS mod, it's a combination of distraction with my own mods which are perhaps a bit nearer and dearer to my heart, and the difficulty of trying to be faithful to the original modder's levels while wanting to add so many other characters (People's Heroes, Female Furies, Duchess, Plastique, Force of July, etc.).  The last paper version approved by C/S was 50+ levels, designed in part to add Duchess and the Apokolips fight.

All in all, I think I'd rather code my Tbolts mod.   :P

A T-Bolts mods would definatly rank way above a SS mod remake in my eyes!  Since I am a rather large T-bolt fan and only just starting to get to know the SS, but your description of your addons sound pretty cool (I am up to the Apokolips battle now inthe comics)

As for Dutchess's strength, I also didn't think she was that strong either. My Lashina hero file only has a strength of 3 (but I upped it to 5 after reading some SS issues with her in it.

The T-Bolts mod I wanted to do was the Ellis books.  Not my favorite writer normally and I know a lot of fans think he ruined the series.  But the possibility of sharp dialogue between the characters, betrayals, ulterior motives, limited opportunity for redemption...  -- it practically is the new Suicide Squad.

Besides, I'm fascinated with the thought of having to find a way to make it challenging to take down Jack Flag.  Of course knowing me, I'd make the player play Jack and last 10 minutes with the full Tbolt squad.   :D

Now that would be a tough one either way. Either trying to find a way to make the fight against Flag interesting enough (he could use his "boom box" weapons from his original appearances for some help, but he is just athletic and real strong otherwise) or having him go up against the T-bolts would be near impossible.  I was very much enjoying the T-bolts run when they were tracking down those 2nd stringers and getting some of their butts kicks in the process (Americop, Flag, Steel Spider, American Eagle...)

If you're doing the SS version, no, and in fact you should probably take away the eldritch bolts.  If you're doing the Shadowpact version, yes.

She's a very changed character.  I don't know the middle part, so could be my problem.  But right now she's basically a heroic sorceress.  She was anything but in SS.

In SS, she was the alter ego of June Moone.  When June said the word "Enchantress" she transformed, but had a lot of trouble saying the word again to change back.  She usually had to be forced to do so.  Bronze Tiger carried a ring that caused a mystic feedback loop whenever Enchantress got out of control, which is usually what was used to keep her in line.  Then Nightshade's brother Larry the Incubus ripped the Enchantress soul out of June and placed it in Eve, leaving Enchantress basically powerless.  As I said, I don't know how it got from there to Shadowpact as I didn't reach many comics in the 90's.

When she was in SS, her power was basically limited to transmutation and only of inanimate objects.  The most prolific uses were changing attacks into something harmless like snow (forget the name, but there's an FFX attribute that changes projectiles to flowers, which is perfect for E); and burning the clothes of her opponents, though she would claim it took to long to kill them.  She was quite blood thirsty.

I never saw anything quite like puppet master, but that might not be beyond the realm of possibility.  But more likely she would be igniting people, turning something on their person to acid, that sort of thing.

Yeah, I would like to stick with her SS apearences abilities (or any abilities that where shown prior to SS).  So I should probably remove the "toadify" ability which I knew that her transmutation was only performed on objects but I coldnt think of anyway to simulate that. But turning her foes clothing to acid of igniting them is a good way. I gave her a acid and heat attack to simulate that, but should they be direct attacks or would she fire a beam to cause that effect?  She never fired off magic blasts in SS?  I could of swore I saw her firing off some kinds of magic energy blasts in ss, but I might be wrong on that.

I would give Enchantress the Transmutator attribute (changing the fx) as well as Berserker, as she was prone to attack her allies as well as her foes.

I do remember her using power blasts as well in SS, so that should be there. It was more of a beam than a projectile, if I can recall that correctly.

She also used a sheathe of flames as an active defense, probably protecting her against the elements. It seems she can also redirect projectiles, like giant rocks, so that could be a low- or medium-level passive defense.

The direct fire attack is a great idea. That's definitely something she could do.

I remember a scene in the Legends storyline were she changed shrapnel into flower petals, so you could use anti_war zone attribute also.

I don't know how the redirect passive defense will work with the anti war zone, the projectiles probably won't reach her to redirect, but I don't think anti-war zone is always active.

When in doubt, do the research.   :D  I would absolutely have said Direct, but having now researched it, I'm not only going to say beam instead of direct, I'm also going to challenge this idea that she can shoot eldritch beams.  I looked at her appearances BRIEFLY but think I got them all as she was only around until about SS 16 or so, and wasn't in every mission.

In Legends 3, she turns plasma/fireball from an exploding Brimstone to snow.

In SS2, she is shown shooting pink blasts at Djinn, but there is no indication to what purpose since Djinn cannot be touched.  She ultimately beats Djinn by shooting his magnetic box -- but that's an inanimate object, which is an important point to note here in a moment.

SS5, she makes herself look like the Russian prisoner being rescued by "manipulating energy" -- perhaps Disguise or something similar like you discussed for Nemesis.

SS6, she's shooting blasts and everything is in flames, but the text says she is out of control (again) and that she "blew up a doorway" -- sounds like ignite or molecular disruption more than anything.

SS7, she burns the clothes off of one of the People's Heroes and then entombs them with rock.  Not clear to me where the rock came from, whether she shaped it out of air or redirected earth from somewhere or what.

SS12, Nightshade says you get so used to the magic, you forget how fast and strong she is.  Nightshade takes her down but it takes 4 blows.  This seems slightly out of character since Captain Boomerang once fell her with a single boomerang, and Deadshot took her down with a single skull crease bullet.  But Suicide Squad tended to draw out melee fights far more than anything with weapons, a fact I must remember if I ever do re-do C/S' mod.  The Batman/Flag fight for example, went on forever.  Now here's the important part: in SS12, Enchantress is forced to transmute cocaine to bat guano.  She does so by SHOOTING PINK BEAMS at it.  Same pink beams she is shooting in every other scene that appears to be eldritch blasts.

SS15, Enchantress fires pink beams at Larry the Incubus but AT HIS FEET.  It is not clear to what good, but a few panels later, she is making rocks fly up at him.  He re-directs the rock at her and she turns it to fire.

So... if you want a good balanced character, make her however you like.   :P  Eldritch beams are consistent with her future appearances and comments about her magic.  But I think a case could be made that there is no proof that she has an energy beam attack.  She has only occasionally fired at people and never with any success -- she could well have been trying to burn their clothes or otherwise affect inanimate objects around them.

I would probably ditch the Fast Healing and/or tone down the endurance (yeah, I'm contradicting myself a bit but I forgot how easy she was to take down at times).  The Berserker is a must, however.  She was always going nuts on her own teammates.  In a mod, Bronze Tiger should have a custom action to remove the enraged state, using the ring that causes the mystic feedback as that was how he (and later Nightshade) kept her in line.  Before then, they usually just shot her or threw something blunt at her.  Seriously.

I just Zipped through all those SS comics you mentioned (2,5,6,7,12,15). And it pretty much looks like her pink beams are her catch all attack for pretty much everything, except when she set the clothes on fire. And when she entombed her oppenent in rocks it looks like she just blasted at the rocks with her pink beam and they fell on her.
And your right, she hadn't actually connected to any opponent with her pink blast, so who knows what would of happened. But just for myself I am going to go ahead and give her a pink energy blast just because......I don't know, it looks like something she was
trying" to do I guess :ph34r:  But I did get rid of her fast healing and I added disguise.

I would consider either lowering the accuracy of barrage attacks or adding a "cover fire" attack.  Everyone focuses on Deadshot's accuracy, which is true for any single shot, but a lot of times he would spray fire without hitting anyone.

New Deadshot: 
Lowered the accuracy to low for the barrage and lowered his zero cost single shot to Med accuracy, then added a "deadshot!" single shot with High accuracy and high damage to represent a aimed shot better.

I used the ranged grapple ffx attribute for Slipknot and it works very well. It keeps Slipknot in place while he constricts the rope around a foe, dealing damage.

Javelin looks good. Maybe give him a piercing melee attack with his javelin?

The updated Deadshot looks much better.

I'm so glad you're getting into the Suicide Squad. It makes me want to do any other members that haven't been done yet.. got any suggestions?

I really gotta start using the newer FFX stuff out there like that Grapple.  Usually I am just too lazy to use anything other than what you can use with FFX control center (older swaps and stuff). But grapple sounds perfect for Slipknot.
I will give Javelin a "javelin jab" melee which was a good idea. I didn't realize that he had melee animations that use a javelin as a weapon.
Plus I changed the heat damage from his exploding javelin to piercing because his javelin actually fragments on contact instead of a firey explosion.
I am just getting into the suicide squad myself so I am not sure about any squad characters not done yet (I am up to the Apokolips fight in the comics now)  The only characters off the top of my head that arnt done yet are Punch and Jewlee.....but for some reason I think I remember Tommy doing a Punch mesh??
