Title: Has anyone ever been able to fix original game meshes so they show in Nifscope?

Well, have they?

Never had a problem actually? I just opened chicken for the halibut. Only ones I ever had issue with are nifs with FX if I tried to open in them in the older grey backing versions of Nifskope but the newer black backed ones seem to open anything.

I'm talking about the meshes from FF1. I tried importing them to Blender with the idea of saving them and copying the saved editable mesh to the scene root if it showed. It doesn't import correctly, and I can't see anything to do with it. Otherwise, none of the built-ins (at least to my knowledge) will show in Nifscope, including the generic heroes.

Same deal, I never had a problem with those either. I know I've used them since I did FF1 requests for you. Likewise I use some of those like Bachite and the fish girl as bases often. It's been awhile but the nif.xml file included with old versions of Nifskope doesn't work if that's anything. Tommy released an updated version some time ago, I have that. But again the new version, not the betas but the last official should work with everything under the sun. Anyways send me a FF1 and I'll look on my end and see if I can figure what you mean here. Like how about Minute Man from that game since he's the standard just to be on the safe side?

Edit: Hey just a thought and before the groups shut down hosting but weren't most of the original game nifs converted by early users to include effects? Just wondering if maybe those versions would work in Nifskope for you?

I believe that this was brought up at the old NifSkope forums a few years back. If I remember correctly, there was something in the game engine that made the original Nif Files less than compatible with NifSkope. Unfortunately, I don't remember all the details about it.

The heroes have all have "effects" meshes that will show in Nifscope. What about Nick and Clint?

I don't know that anyone ever fixed Nick and Clint. Just a start for you, I know I used the little fish girl from that group for a few projects. Else and maybe message me a reminder I could attempt to convert FFVTR models backwards to FF1 using Blender if you want and you can test them out?

I'll try that myself. I've had a busy week and didn't want to duplicate the effort if someone had already done it.

Here, I got a start for you. The nif is the 2nd games converted back to the first. The keys are from the first. I checked and the node names all line up. I also converted the textures from dds to tga for you.

Thanks! I tried Clint and... I'm not sure what happened. He was sideways and below the original figure, and the animations were messed up.

No idea honestly, just thought it was worth a shot. Well I did kind of figure something like you said would happen. The bipeds tend to be off. The sideways thing can be resolved, I know converted Ren meshes end up like that. About animations depends what you mean. But in a nutshell the second game version model and bones don't line up to the first game keyframes and would need to be manually matched up in Nifskope, sort of long tedious process that.
