Title: FF Museum and Preservation Society
Post by: WyldFyre on February 01, 2017, 01:41:41 PM
In the beginning....... there were only a few skins by Psycho Pirate. I am working on getting the others uploaded.

Let me know if there are any changes to design you want to make. I am thinking of using as few subpages as possible, so will try to keep all of a creator's content on one page if possible.

Still need to add the line about removing content if requested.

And I've only tested this in MS Edge, so let me know if there are any browser issues.

Four Atoms and two Batman skins are up an downloadable. Let me know if there are any dl issues.

More to come.........

Now, let's see who's gonna be FR's primary treasure hunter who oh so graciously donates to this fine museum.

Great site. Really glad you're doing this.

Thanks Pod. I'm just glad to be able to contribute by saving some of our fine artwork.

Updated now with All-Star Squadron, T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents, and two Phantom skins.

If anyone has the missing skins, please let me know as I would like to put as much as possible in the museum.

Going to try to get all the Psycho-Pirate skins I have up by tomorrow night.  I am having surgery on Monday and may not be able to work on it for about a week.

Everyone enjoy!

You're really doing an incredible job with this WyldFyre, I've been looking for the missing Copper Age Skins (Unfortunately, with no luck), so now I'll add the missing Psycho-Pirate Skins to the search as well.

Best of luck with your Surgery, I hope all goes well.

Small update to the Museum today.

Recovering at home and can only spend a little time at the PC, but did manage to finish what I have of Psycho-Pirate's stuff.

Added Crimson Avenger and Spy Smasher. Thanks, Mike.

Also added all the villain skins I found. I don't have a list of all his villain skins, so if there are any more, please let me know.

I'll keep working as I can.

A new gallery opens at the museum today: Ace*Frankly now has a display area.

Also a Wonder Woman skin by Tommy Troy and an alternate Tarantula skin by Psycho-Pirate have been hung in their respective galleries.

Enjoy everyone.

Yeah, I am finding a LOT of skins I never knew about. And I used to visit EF a lot in the old days.

Added Ra's al Ghul to Dirk's page along with the mesh it is standard on. I know Ink's work is hosted at Hero Force, but I thought it was appropriate.

Electric Freedom wasn't the first nor the vastest of FF skin hosts. ;-)

It's good to see these "old" (I remember when most came out cause I was there) back online and all.

Thanks to DaGlob we have found a couple of "lost" artistic works.

Now in Dirk Thorazine's display:

Hercules
Reed Richards
The Riddler
and Two Face TAS

In Psycho Pirates Gallery:

Huntress
and Diana Palmer

And in Tommy Troy's exhibit:

Thanks to YL for letting DG release this and thanks to DG for sharing.

Announcing a new exhibit!! The work of Styles is now being shown in our galleries. Tickets are, as always, free. So go browse and enjoy the art of yesteryear.

I hope soon to show off some of our resident booze guzzling Jester. Wow he did a lot of skins.

Thanks Nait, I'm trying to save as many of the prior works as possible.

A small update to Styles and Dirk Thorazine's displays. Thanks to Cyber,  Bishop has been added to Styles area and Superman, Punisher and Wolverine have been added to Dirk's gallery.

Hope everyone enjoys them. Still working on getting some of our resident Jester's skins ready to hang. And a special Anniversary display is planned as well.

You ain't whistlin' Dixie DJ.

Worst part is the skins I know I'm missing. Hopefully we'll get as many as possible though.

You did a LOT of skins. I've been removing the e-mail addies from the readme files as I go. And I'll have to make some preview pics as well. A lot of the zips don't have any.

Title: Re: FF Museum and Preservation Society
Post by: Deaths Jester on March 07, 2017, 03:23:30 AM
Yeah, sorry about the lack of preview pics in the zips. Most of the time the previews were sent seperate from the zips so those hosting the skins could go straight to work without having to look for them.

As for the amount of skins, I think I passed the thousand mark around the time C6 did...so who knows how many more there are out there. Never really kept a good count or list of what I did over the years, I just kept skinning.

Update!!!!

Thanks to Jeremy, we have Psycho-Pirate's Col. Worobu skin.

And a Gallery has been opened for Copper Age. Only the DC related for now. And as always, if you know of any skins missing from the Museum displays, please let me know.  I only just found out that I am missing a Darkseid skin by Dirk Thorazine. I'm checking to see if maybe it was the standard on Beyonder's mesh.

Come, browse, enjoy. As always admission is free!

Still working on a special anniversary page and cataloguing D. Jester's skins. Hope to have some more up soon.

Come one come all....

See how our artists used some of the original FF Meshes to create their own take on these immortal characters.......

Come peruse the works of Ink, Glitch Girl and the great Gryphon in a display to celebrate our respect and honor of their hard work!

And yes (still working on the works of the Jester of Death) more displays to come.

Side note: Were the Canadian FF ever released outside the Mod? I have the mod and skins, just wasn't sure if they were available anywhere else.

Enjoy everyone!

Such lovely skins! I'm really glad to see Gryphon and GG getting their stuff hosted, and I've actually never seen those INK skins, before. NICE!

Hi Wyldfyre, thanks for pointing me here and glad to be back, a bit.

Upon more testing the files CAN be opened with winrar but shown as corrupted/unusable with winzip, renaming them from zip to rar also works. The affected ones are:

Adam, Alche-mister, bluebottle, la_diabla, queenant, Menta, sea slugger, truth, justice and woman-bot

Is there a full list of creators that you plan on hosting that can be added to? Blobula, Unfluffy/Syn (Freedom Asylum, really), TAP43, Bevo.. the list goes on.. so many great contributors through the years.

How do you all feel about storing all the NPI originals somewhere?

Of course we would have to ask each creator for their opinion on this, but it would be a shame if all these great creations get lost forever.

I think maybe yahoo groups or the same FF Museum... IF they agree to have them preserved

Also Copper Age's Marvel characters are now on display.

And Kingpin by Dirk Thorazine as well!

Since you have plans to give Copper an "Other" section, why did you lop the Archie/MLJ characters in with DC?  The MLJ characters are "Other" not DC.  Yes, there are characters DC created with the Archie heroes names, during the periods they licensed stuff from Archie.

Actually had put them there because of the DC licensing. But, I have plans to move them into the "other" section as they are actually pre-DC. I hadn't realized originally that they were the older Archie/MLJ characters. (I never actually read the DC versions and didn't realize that they had re-vamped the characters. I thought they had used the originals. )

Haven't had a lot of time for a while now.

My Mom has finished her treatments and everything seems okay. They found something on her thyroid, but a biopsy turned up negative. At 83 she's doing pretty well.

Seems like forever since I've worked on this. I have been completely unable to upload anything to the Museum.  Apparently ownership of the host changed and, for whatever reason, the transfer protocols changed as well.

I am in a position now to purchase my own web hosting, so I intend to move everything over to a new host soon. I will keep everyone advised as I go. I have all of Bobby69/Vertex's meshes ready to go, just couldn't get them to upload.

So New Year - hopefully Old Content for everyone to enjoy.

More (hopefully) soon.

Greetings All.  After finally getting some time, I have uploaded the barest of museum content. We present meshes by Bobby69 to start, with the hopes of much more to come.  I am working on porting the skins from the first site over and adding more as time allows.

Let me know if there are problems with the downloads or anything else.

A new Museum Update!  Because no one demanded it - A selection of early skins by our resident booze hound and undead Titan - Death's Jester!  I apologize for the lack of previews, I worked with what was in the files. I intended to make the missing ones, but
time did not allow. (And apologies DJ for how long it took me to get these online.)

And the first port from the original Museum pages - The Electric Freedom artists - Ace Frankly, AoA Supergirl, Styles and Tommy Troy.  Working on more as time allows.

Update!

Finally got the Bobby69 meshes updated. I am still compiling his work as Vertex.

I have one question for the community.  I have one mesh - male_basic_whirlwind - which I have as attributed to either Valandar or Bobby69. Does anyone know who is the correct author? I plan on adding Val's work as well and want to credit the right author.

Great job WF! Looking forward to more of the classics being preserved and available.

On Whirlwind, I did some searching on the Wayback site for NewPowerInc. If you hit the yahoo archives tab under meshworks, male_basic_whirlwind shows up as being under yahoo group "Bobby69 #7"

Doesn't seem like I can download any of Lord Ehmsidy's stuff?

I'm getting a 404 on the several I tried, including Freddy, the Daemonite, Heihachi, Piccolo, and more.

Hmmm. It may not have updated everything yet. I'll check on it though.

Should be okay now. It didn't upload my saved page with all the correct files. Just checked and seemed to be working.

I know. I still remember downloading things from the original web sites. I just wish I hadn't lost a lot to hdd crashes over the years. I have more and better back-ups now.

Will note that most of what is up comes from my time at FFC along with a few of the things I posted on Kraven's old site.  If you are looking for anything that was on Electric Freedom, FFUnderground, NPI, FF Asylum/UnfluffyBunny, or any of the other places I've resided...not there yet.  Not like we need them though...Wildfyre is doing more than enough as it is!!

Don't you worry DJ. I'm gathering some more of your works. I'm still missing a lot, but I can add quite a bit to the Jester's history.

I noticed that back in the day, you had some skins hosted on multiple sites at the same time. Were these the same skins? Or did you update a lot and then host them on the new platforms? I'm trying to check for duplicates as I go.

I'm hoping to do meshes from 3DMaster next. He's not skopable, but I feel it's deserved.

I'm still working on skins from the old site as well, and then I'll get to other skinners.

Maybe I'm thinking of someone else. I admit to working from memory on that. I'll check the list for future reference.

Thanks windblown!

Will answer the question in pm later in the week cause got some stuff keeping me offline. Will say some are duplicates at the time because i knew that one of the sites was about to go down/no longer be maintained. However some of them are different...will explain later.

Hail! Hail!  Finally, a new Museum Update!

Added the works of 3DMaster (Sorry, no pics. I ran out of time)
Added the works of Grenadier

Added space for Mods to be added soon.

Hopefully it looks okay to everyone. If there are problems with files or pics let me know. I'm hoping RL gives me a break so I can add more content.

Minor Museum update today. The skins of Dirk Thorazine make a return! And the skins Atomic Robot allowed to be hosted as a bonus!

More hopefully soon.

Nice work, WF!

P.S.: You should probably update your profile's website with the new domain.

I just wanted to thank all involved, I haven't popped in for a while (trying to get better at that), but having seen the sheer quantity of preservation happening here is just breathtaking. These are real treasures being preserved. Thank you so much.
