Title: DCUG - Campaign Feedback
Post by: BentonGrey on January 22, 2009, 08:33:14 PM
Since my other thread is indisposed, I'd like to invite anyone who has played the DCUG to offer feedback on the different campaigns available.  What did you like?  What didn't you like?  Which was your favorite?  Did the characters seem well portrayed to you?  Whatever you want related to the campaigns, I'd just like to see what people think.

i'm loving it so far.  the characters are created differently from the way i do them, so i get new points of view.
i've only got 2 negative things, and they really are just my own personal viewpoint on how i make mods. (but don't release them.)
1.  i really regret that your heroes are all maxxed out power wise.  i feel like you are missing the benfits of the xp system.
2.  i've had to restart the campaign, due to the updates, and i hate playing the same manhunter mission again.  if there could be saved games for each level?
thanks!

I'm gonna go with my previously mentioned Music suggestion.

And maybe (and this is one of those secondary aesthetic things that has no bearing on gameplay per se) but maybe updating a couple of the maps with some more dynamic lighting. Some of them seemed a little flat from an illumination standpoint (specifically the 2nd JLA mission with Batman).

The maxxed out character thing Im torn on. One hand I like characters that are portrayed being able to do what they do. But on the other I think keeping them sorta limited adds some better variation to certain encounters where some characters have to rely more on tactics than powers... Especially since as a full on campaign with XP you could add the ability of being able to build up certain characters as the missions progress.

But then I'm still in the early parts of the story I'll have more Im sure.

Wow, is this a nice change of pace.  Thanks for responding guys, it's nice to remember that I released this thing so people could enjoy it.

Bearded, I know!  Ha, I know, the XP thing...I waffled back and forth on.  In the end, it was simply a matter of me having enough time.  I can either balance it once, and maybe finish it one day, or try and balance it again and again as powers progress throughout a mod.  Maybe one day. ;)  As far as the save thing, well, there is a way to do it with EZScript, but when I was first trying to do this, I found it too complicated.  I think, I just need to get off my butt and do it.  Thanks for the reminder!

Goggles, I definitely want to do music, but I want to get the current nonsense cleared up before I do so.  I need to create a thread where people can suggest soundtracks for the other two campaigns.

Quick question Benton, with the Beta, you had the "character.nif.bak" files still in the mesh folders. Is it the same for the new release? If so, dropping those may reduce the overall size.

Maybe the Timmverse  JLA/JLU music for the JLA missions. I only have gotten to the 1st Mission on mars and am waiting for updates ( Should I bother. I'd really like to get to it). You certainly made the best Martian Manhunter I've ever seen someone else do. He really felt like J'onn , not some nerfed version for the game or inappropriately powerful. Just about right. AS annal as I am I probably would,nt change anything about him.  I did have a nice tense movement when one of the white martians accidentally blasted open a cage before reaching me and tried to kill the astronaut but I saved him!

CB, those are backup files made when a mesh is converted to work in FF2, and they are not necessary.  I have already removed them for the next release. ^_^

Haha, glad to hear you're enjoying it Steamteck!  Yeah, those White Martians are deceptively tough!  I had to rewrite the Aquaman mission because I had made it too hard for myself. ;)  Depending on how things go, it might be worth waiting, or it might not matter.

That post by duckye is the same thing that has happen to Four color explosion.  I used to go there when this site was down but it is getting filled up with someone posting this kind of stuff.  I hope that does not happen here.

While I am a fan of Dramatica I would never post any link to it or any offensive images from it on this forum. You need to take that ish to /b/.
